FM sports stampede passes through Biloxi

Heard that classic country 96.7 Hank FM has been put out to pasture in favor of sports 96.7 The Champ; switched Monday after an all-weekend Gary Glitter stunt. Haven't seen Wayne around here in a while, maybe he was busy finding 672 copies of Rock and Roll to play.

thank god!!! i thought is was a waste of a signal on the coast. one less country station on coast. we already have two country stations i think that is enough

I hope they have some sales people who will take time to sell it and educate clients on why advertising on this station can give them positive results. In most markets in Mississippi, unless the station targets females 25-54, it won't make money. Apparently people still think they're the only ones who buy anything other than beer and pork rinds.

it would be nice to something like hip pop or 80's thru today like mix music from wave, dance, to alternative mix in the area. maybe like Voodoo 104 in new orleans or gen x 103.3 in baton rouge

Actually 691 Dr. Tech! LOL! Response has been phenominal after the first week of 96.7 The Champ, and it IS the first FM Sports Talk on the MS Gulf Coast. Home of Southern Miss Golden Eagle athletics, New Orleans Hornets basketball and Gulfport Admiral High School football...Morning drive and afternoons are local, Jim Rome middays, ESPN otherwise...

There's no FCC regulation limiting how long a station can simulcast. If there is, it's not enforced.

IIRC, the limit on simulcast was around when FM was still young. The FCC wanted separate formats, rather than AM owners simulcasting 24/7 on their new FM signals. That hasn't been the case for a while now.

Is there a limit on how long two FMs or two AMs with the overlapping coverage areas can simulcast? Do they have to report it to the FCC and apply for permission or something?

It's buried in the back of my head. I don't know what it is, but there is some meat on the bone to this question. I'm thinking it came up in the late 1990's when I lived in Atlanta and all the rimshots started moving around.
