Can someone who has experience with it describe the pros and cons of relaying your AM on a low power FM translator. Thanks!
 
For better reception inside an office building or under a bridge? WTAG-AM 580 of Worcester has their signal on 94.9 FM in portions of the city. Further south, WPRO-AM 630 of Providence simulcasts their signal on 99.7 FM, licensed to Wakefield/Peacedale, RI.
 
No real cons... Just Pros. Ya get a whole new, albeit limited, audience base. Ya know, all those people who can't seem to figure out that the AM band exists. Also, FM translators of AM stations need not get the feed from the originating AM.
 
Saga has at least 3 in NH...1370 WFEA Manchester is on 94.1, 1290 WKBK Keene has 104.1 and 1220 WZBK Keene has 103.1. They've been on the air at least 2 months now and there hasn't been any problems AFAIK. BTW, WZBK is in HD and sounds really good.

WZBK's *FM translator* is HD? Or do you mean the AM transmitter?

(if so it would be the first translator I'm aware of to be running HD, not that I doubt it would happen)
 
Sorry for the confusion. WZBK's AM is in HD as are all Saga's Keene FM's and WZID Manchester. The translators are not in HD.

Didn't 94.1 repeat the Mill for a while? Seems odd that they'd put WFEA on an FM translator considering the AM has a good signal up & down the I-93/Everett Turnpike corridor and the fact that their audience is mostly over 65.
 
The 94.1 in Manchester did repeat WMLL until its recent switch to WFEA.

The 94.9 translator in Worcester MA sounds good in most areas up to 15-18 mi from the transmitter but took away a small chunk of WHOM's listeners.
