FM tropo catch from Brownsville, Texas!

Not only is this my first great tropo catch on my Sangean PR-D5 but it's my best ever! 936 miles!

I want to thank our poster Austin Tx for making me aware of this tropo opening tonight.

I was just scanning the dial and heard many weak but audible frequencies and when I came to 100.3, I stopped there because I noticed how I was getting a Spanish music station when I put the antenna in one position and then a weaker country station when I put it in another.

I then heard the DJ say "K Tex". I went online and looked it up and found KTEX from Brownsville listed as 100.3. Went to their online stream and they were playing the same song.

Here's the video of my catch. The ID comes at the beginning.

Man, I need to get home! Can't leave work yet!

When Tropo is this good, be sure to check your DTV and do a manual scan. You may see stations/subchannels you've never seen before.

Hope you have good outdoor antennas!

I'm in an apartment, so I have no outdoor antenna, unfortunately.

The reception of KTEX didn't last long and now that other station on 100.3, the Spanish one, is the only one and it's loud and clear. It's from Orlando.

If only we still had analog TV!

So Far on the DTV side The Tropo has made WFAA 8 unwatchable.

On The FM side just the usual Tyler Area Stations Booming In. WACO FM as well.

also some Digital Noise on 85.9 Mhz. IM guessing that's For Channel 6 TV
as 87.75 Had Faint Audio on it.
