FM Window - how did your group do?

How many groups worked to add stations during the window?

Talked to several consultants and dsicovered many had prepared 50 or more applications and couldn't file them all due to the last minute decision to allow only 10 apps per group.

I filed many apps for people in the Central Us, Hawaiian islands, and East Coast. All publci radio or christian or catholic. No info yet released on numbers but expect it to be bigger than the translator window.

I personally filed 10 for groups I'm working with and two more for friends of mine.

My personal estimate is about 2200 applications were filed during the windo. A friend who does a LOT of applications says he thinks it's more like 4000.

It won't match the translator crush of 13,000 or so. Just not enough room for that many full powers, and at least a few people paid attention to the 10 per customer limit.

The File Number suffixes never went to BAA on any day, unless it happened on the final day's filing. So it's going to be a lot less than the translators, I'm pretty sure.

The list is out ... one has to figure out for themselves if their application is a singleton or not ... and can make minor changes through January 8th to become a singleton (if needed).

Over 3600 new stations requested. Plus "Major Modifications" that are mind boggling (including a California station that is moving to Virginia ... (EMF has about a dozen of these major moves).

I know of one App, that'll be rejected.  Here is the link for it:

http://www.recnet.com/cdbs/fmq_legacy.php?facid=176371

This App, has the station licensed to Moulton Alabama located, near Decatur, in Northwest Alabama. but the maps have the tower located a few miles west of Selma Alabama.

Now get this, this new station is wanting to locate at 89.7 FM.

The reason for this rejection: an interference issue with WRNF 89.5 FM Valley Grande/Selma.  This new station is scheduled to sign on by years end.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. I wonder if any of the other ones, I've been seeing, will be rejected because of an interference issue? Just curious.

I am personally intrigued to see the MX situations in Kokomo, IN & Noblesville, IN.

Also, from the Major Mods file, look at EMF KAIZ-FM, which is "moving" from Mesquite, NV to Wolcott, IN. (Presumably to create a 50 KW Air1 affiliate for the Lafayette area.)

FWIW, I am surprised that IU filed for a full power station here in Kokomo - although perhaps this was the only regional campus which also had enough "white space" to fit a new station? Out of all the regionals, I would not have guessed this one. Perhaps their translator on 106.1 has been more successful than anticipated?

I wonder if being an "existing station" gives EMF the edge (even if the station exists in a very distant state)? I hope not. Their extreme moves are up against true local or regional applicants.

I actually heard the on-air notice for KQAI earlier in the week, and needless to say I did a doubletake when I heard the new COL.

If the KMLU move to McKee, KY is successful, I'd expect Air1 on in London (KMLU is actually much closer to London than McKee), or EMF to simply end their lease with Vernon Baldwin of WWLT. The irony is the towers for WWLT and the new KMLU appear to be a few miles apart.

The Carbon Hill, AL move could either work out really well or really poorly-most of Birmingham's growth has been to the south-it makes me wonder if Cullman is the intended target. That said, it should do better than WPHC, and give Crawford more headaches.

I noticed the Wolcott IN move and checked it out. CDBS has a new application but not by EMF.

How does a major move work on educational? According to the new streamlining Rules such a large move doesn't exist. The contours have to overlap.

Not seeing the Wolcott move in reality in CDBS are these moves a rumor?

To me, it looks like the app is real, but it is for a COL of Fowler, not Wolcott. I really believe I heard EMF announce Wolcott on Air1 the other night, but Fowler is the city on the paperwork. Same area in any case.

I went to http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_sear.htm and plugged in the Facility ID of 122212. This shows me the complete list of all the apps filed in reference to KAIZ. The top one is the move to Indiana.

With a MINOR move contours must overlap (and a few other limits).
What makes the move MAJOR is a non overlapping contour or other "major" change.
With a "major" move apparently the station can go anywhere ... even coast to coast. :(

All of these moves are in CDBS ...

There is a competing app for Wolcott. What happens?

Are major moves available ANY time and doesn't this open up the new channel for competing apps? Or is first come first served just that?

lurker--emf move into brewster, ohio would serve canton, ohio. canton currently has the following christian formatted stations:

900 wcer 900AMen--Christian talk, with Walsh University, High School, MLB ANd NFL +Steelers
95.9 WNPQ--Christian teaching midday, Christian ccm music3p to 10a
1520 Joy Urban Gospel music daytimer
The Oasis--FM(88 or 89 something) Trnaslator for Tulsa based Rhema radio, SG music and teaching
95.5 WFHM THe FIsh--cleveland based cc music, covers 90% of stark county
1060 WILB Daytime Catholic teaching radio, home of dr. ray guarendi
900, 1060, 95.9 and 1520 all have LOCAL independent ownership

proposed move to brewster by emf could also potentially cover wayne county to west and tusc county to south as well as stark county. interesting....david5258

forgot about 1150 wcue, cuyahoga falls--now operates as family radio translator from oakland cal with teaching and inspo music, can be heard in northern areas of stark county.
