FM100 vs KOSY 106.5

Which station is better, FM100 or KOSY 106.5? Which does better in the ratings? Which do you hear around town more often? Which has good jocks, good contests, good news/info, etc? Does FM100 go all Christmas? Who has been around longer?

Thanks and sorry for so many questions!

FM100 has the heritage. Both go all Christmas. This year KOSY jumped the all-Christmas ship at the stroke of midnight into Halloween.

FM100 is probably heard around town more often. It is the #2 rated station 12+, behind sister station KSL (news/talk). FM100 is the #1 rated FM music station in the market. I think it has good jocks and good music. It's done a good job of transitioning to a modern-sounding A/C, whereas KOSY still "Plays another song you can't hear anywhere else" that tends to be something old and boring.

FM100 does have news updates in the morning, and frequent traffic updates in both the morning and afternoons. KOSY claims to "have the most traffic reports on the FM Dial," but neither one really has much news. KSFI brands its weather as part of the "KSL 5" forecast (another sister station).

FM100 is now broadcasting using iBiquity's HD technology.

The stations really aren't as similar as they have been in the past (and very possibly will be again in the future). FM100 is an A/C station while KOSY is a Lite A/C. There's overlap, but it's unlikely that you'd hear Barry Manilow on FM100 while it's very possible on KOSY.

Who are the imaging voices on KSFI & KOSY?
Which station does a better job there with imaging?

KSFI's imaging voice is in-house- Todd Carlson. He also does work for the other Bonneville stations, most notably KSL NewsRadio station promos.

I unfortunately don't know as much about KOSY.

Thanks! I had a friend at KSFI a few years back and then they were
using Randy Thomas, the lady who announces many of the awards shows.

Wondering if KOSY uses a male or female, and if they're an outside
contractor?

I think they still use her too... as FM100 does have a female voice a lot too, I hadn't thought about it until you pointed it out. :)

Also, FM100's imaging can be heard online too - http://www.fm100.com

I love KOSY music

What's boring is a matter of personal opinion. For my tastes, the classic Soft AC KOSY plays is some of the most exciting music you could ever hear on commercial radio. A couple of recent examples on KOSY include "Lost Without Your Love" by Bread. I am in total awe of that song, when the guitar solo kicks in I literally get goosebumps. How about "Music Box Dancer" by Frank Mills, the piano sounds so sweet in that song that it gives a high to my brain. Another example is "Laughter in the Rain" by Neil Sedaka, another sweet song full of hooks that I will never get tired of for as long as I live.

These songs may be old, but they are not tired because they have not been played out through the years, they have been considerded "forbidden fruit" so to speak. I am very happy KOSY had such a good Fall book, although I realize a lot of their spike was Christmas related.
