O&A claim that they are in discussions with CBS radio to replace David Lee Roth as the morning show for affected FreeFM stations. Now, I'm not quite sure how that would all work with them and the satellite thing, but it is curious nonetheless, especially in the Philly market where O&A were particularly successful.

This could be interesting. I don't know if they would want to just play a bleeped version of the prior day's show (which could sound like morse code) or tone it down and/or run 50 delays and simulcast on XM undelayed.

Call me psychic...but I have a feeling that a day-old talk show will never catch on.

Why is this so difficult to understand? If they simulcast the XM show on FM, it would be in a 15 minute delay with someone waiting at a dump button. It's really not that hard to explain "how it would work"

I don't think it is so difficult to understand. And if that's indeed "how it would work," then I think it would be instantly more successful than David Lee Roth.

But do I think that anyone in today's terrestrial radio climate would even attempt to air a bleeped version of a satellite radio show? Never in a million years. Or at least not for two or three more years. LOL.

Any type of delay with a "bleep" button would be a watered down version of their show. While a delayed show being able to win over their audience in Philly could work, do you think many would be satisfied with a watered down version? (Including O & A themselves).

Part of me thinks that O & A planted this story just to get a little laugh, but in this business anything is possible.

I listen to O&A on my IPOD every week and they dont curse as much as everyone thinks they do. Yeah the F bombs go flying and the A bombs are used but theres been many times they go for long stretches with no cursing. So I don't think the bleeping factor would play a role in it.

O&A+CBS=FCC $$$

Wow...talk about opening a can o' worms! O&A, kings of the on-air orgasm, are a sure magnet for the attention of the current FCC. CBS might as well paint a large red target on their kiesters as hire Opie/Anthony. (Not that they're not talented..they're just too big a risk to let run loose on terrestrial radio)

With the FCC about to levy mega-fines on stations nationwide for Janet Jackson's "wardrobe-malfunction" as well as huge fines for a TV show featuring a simulated teenage orgy, I don't believe that many/any stations would want the risk factor of big ratings AND the huge fines that would surely follow.

Just remember who's in office and the constituency that put them there. If you think those people aren't just LOOKING for a chance to whine to the FCC, you haven't been paying attention. And, the FCC is on THEIR side.

O&A better stick to satellite...until after 2008.
