FNX final day lineup; last song guesses?

via tweet from @BostonTweet relayed by @bostonradio: WFNX will sign-off Friday at 7pm with Tai (6-11am), Jim Ryan (11-2pm) & Neal Robert (2-7pm) ushering out the final hours. (h/t @bostonradio)

any guesses for final song? anyway passing this info along
Also via @bostonradio: 101.7 continues automated music thru the weekend with CC taking over most likely Monday. Just in time for a new ratings period.

btw I don't know what their first song as WFNX was...keep in mind the alternative music actually had been going for a little while before it became WFNX. WLYN-FM, "Y-102". Sometimes that would simulcast on
WLYN 1360--and you'd hear songs like Mission of Burma's That's When I Reach For My Revolver...on AM

Except the new ratings period begins Thursday so why wait 'til Monday?

Four days -- two of them weekend -- are really going to matter?

Meanwhile what was the first song on WFNX? Mark of Boston Radio Watch to the rescue

>>Technically, WFNX was born on March 15, 1983 as "Let's Go" by the Cure replaced the head-banging rock at the old WLYN-FM. The current call letters WFNX were adopted on April 1st, 1983 and the full "Boston Phoenix Radio" launch didn't actually happen until April 11, 1983 which is now known as the the official WFNX birthday.

4 days actually does matter but the point I was really trying to make was that a launch on Monday really wouldn't have anything to do with them doing it because of a new ratings period.

Is the automated music just the web stream content, or will that split off Friday?
Any word on a launch event for the web stream, or is it merely going to be Jim Ryan soldiering on? The other two DJs, Jason and Christine, are done tomorrow.
How about 92.1? Is that flipping to Blount at the same time 101.7 goes to CC?

My bet for the final song on Sunday night is "The End Of The World As We Know It" by R.E.M. And after that, I'm switching to 92.9!

The last song should be WFNX's first song, "Let's Go to Bed" by the Cure, although the songs mentioned before could also be contenders as well as "The Funeral" by Band of Horses, "Good Riddance" by Green Day or "Alive" by Pearl Jam. I guess anything is possible.

Tonight's evening show and now the automated overnight have been wonderfully programmed. Full versions of Sonic Youth's Diamond Sea and Bauhaus' Bela Lugosi's Dead...lots of Cure and Joy Division.... ♥

Last Song Guess ....."Gone, Gone, Gone" Alison Krauss and Robert Plant?????

How about Gone Daddy Gone, Violent Femmes
And if the rumor of cons talk is true, CC could start off w/ Pretenders--My City Was Gone (Rush's theme)

Aired at 3:45pm ET on Fri. 7/20/12.

http://www.yes.com/#WFNX?log

and a rolling, constantly updated playlist of the past 3-5 hours (approximately) on the station website: http://wfnx.com/now-playing

The WFNX web playlist is more thorough and accurate; unfortunately, as one song is added to the list, more drop off the bottom of the list -
meaning you'd have to copy/paste the list to another format every so often to save the info for posterity.

the go TO alt rock farewell...Jeff Buckley...Last Goodbye

The WFNX TuneGenie "Time Played" clock is about 3 minutes fast. Yes.com's clock is all over the place. The WFNX Playlist page is pretty much on target time-wise.
