fnx's little upgrade

I used to go to boarding school 4-7 years ago in the northeastern part of ct (pomfret) during my middle school years. I could always listen to all the Boston stations like jamn 94.5 kiss 108 fm and wbcn 104.1 (choosing between radio 104 at the time because they both came in at the same strength) I could never get fnx 101.7. I was curious if anybody can now tag fnx up in the northeast corner of the state with the little upgrade in height and a tiny bit of signal strength.

I would doubt it since most other Boston FM's come from either the FM 128 Tower or the Pru, both a little further west than FNX. Not to mention, B 101.5 out of Providence would likely win out in Pomfret.

Curious, how were you able to get WBCN and Radio 104 at the same time?

I couldn't get them at exacly the same time... (but as you probably know how fm works) i would pick up the stronger signal so if I faced west with my portable walkman It would be radio 104.1(at the time) and facing East wbcn 104.1. My body would be enough to block one of the 2 becasue they were equal in strenth. It be interesting to see which of the 2 would come in with HD radio.
(radio-locator.com and type in pomfret ct you will see that they are equal)
its just the same way up at my college trying to get 105.1 tos fm fighting 105.1 an oldies station from burlington, the stronger of the 2 singnals would come in

hope this helps

Oh, gee, now here's a really useful comment. That is just your opinion.

I actually used to enjoy the 103.7 FNX simulcast back before it picked up the WEEI sports format.

What is your deal with this station? Every post I've seen on WFNX you've contributed some worthless banter how you think this station "s*cks"...But then again maybe if you learned how to spell and your posts made sense you might be a person smart enough to enjoy that kinda good music...bah!

Remember that WFNX is a Class A station that has much less wattage than the Class B signals that you are used to picking up from Boston. So, it's signal struggles to even get into the Worcester hills. Maybe you could pick it up on a high, northeastward facing mountain, with a great radio - in the NE corner of CT. Elsewhere in the state, stations on 101.7 from Long Island and the Hudson Valley would ensure that WFNX is an impossible catch.

You'd have as much luck picking up simulcast WFEX on 92.1 from Peterborough, NH. Another tough one in CT.

Funny you should mention that:
I used to be able to clock 103.7 in the litchfield hills (kent, CT) waaf 107.3 and Jamn 94.5 (barely) as well while facing east getting them crystal clear. because everyone else had blah blah blah moring shows playing. sometimes I miss radio 104's mandatory metallica at 10am...
