Five Minutes of Doris?

So - I listened to the first five minutes of the 11AM Dave Ross show and I had to turn it off. The guy filling in - FOD? - is FAB! That story about the e-mailed spider drawing was just too much for me. I think I strained a muscle from laughing so hard. Now THAT is good radio! Very, very clever and sardonic humor at its best! Of course, just about any story involving ebay and this whole danged internet thing is bound to be entertaining. I'm just glad this major station in a major market, the venerable 710, the heritage talk station of the NW - has the good sense to recognize it. Not as good as Dave broadcasting from his childhood bedroom twice a year (that's too poignant for even me - I'm tearing up) but, nonetheless - good stuff.

I'm hoping - just hoping - that Doris or Ron & Don will do a story about a monkey sniffing his own butt or that crazy Star Wars kid. Whatta hoot!
 
For crying out loud, it's the holidays; would it be too much to eradicate yourself of the hate?
 
WHY do you think it's hate? And WHY would hating someone's on-air work be so bad? What do you care? Are you Dori? Dave - is that you?

Who cares. Dor/Doris doesn't get her skirt wrinkled up over any posts. It makes no difference to anything. Some guys play handball - I come here and post a few snarky comments.

Holidays, schmolidays. If you're suggesting we should all be nice for the next five weeks, well - good luck on that.

It's not personal. It's ranting against someone's air work. Big deal.

WK, let’s assume DM reads this board. If he were to invite you on his show for a nice little face-to-face debate about your “dislike” for him, do you have the intestinal fortitude to come out from behind your handle and appear with him? I think not

No, I wouldn't go on Doris' show. I mean, I might "go" on it, as in "go #2" but not go on it as in "be" on it.

I've done radio a long time. And when someone is in my control room or on my phone, I control what happens. Just like Doris, there really is no free speech with me. Doris would love nothing more to have me or you or the newspaper guy or the ghost of FDR to appear on his show - he can't lose. If he allows you to dig into his insipidness, he can use that to get sympathy votes from listeners. If he tears into the guest, he looks like a tough guy. It's a no-win for the caller/guest and a no-lose for Doris.

Doris has her little corner of the media world and I have mine. I've taken my share of shots from listeners, reviewers and PDs as does Doris. And just as she would tell you, there truly is such a thing as bad publicity. Once in a great while it can bite you but almost always, it gets better ratings, better numbers. Nothing would be better than if Doris had a stalker or was arrested at a demonstration or got in a fist fight with Ron Sims.

So - I'm not afeared of Ms. Monson, no way or no how but why add to her self-perceived sense of grandeur? She's already convinced she's the #1 radio personality in America and has the #1 "blog" online - although that little scrawny thing doesn't even qualify as a banner ad.

I trust you had a nice Thanksgiving. Wanna bet that Doris took home one of those turkeys he was trying to foist off on the gullible? Wanna bet that nice cop gave her one gratis while other suckers shelled out $250?

Doris does Thanksgiving pimp style!!!

There hasn't been a post here in days and then you drop in with a Rodney King imitation. I'm going to ask you for an honest answer.

I don't like the show and probably wouldn't like the guy if we ever met. I enjoy occasionaly being snarkey and either lampooning something on the show or just directly saying it stinks.

Where, in any of this, do you get HATE?

Hate is venemous, spewing, raging, cunning, deceitful ... not mocking or goofing or complaining. And here's the question of which I'd like an honest answer:

What would you like to see on a radio board? Deep, thoughtful discussions of the inspirational intent of T-Man? A lengthy discussion of Monson's hatred of Seatt;e liberals? Without using any hateful terms, of course. Maybe the implications of House Bill 238b of 1978 and it's affect on transmitter locations?

It's just a radio board, Protools. And Ms. Doris could not care less. So - why should you? If you'd really like to add to the board, howzabout you defending some of his content?
 
Good grief people. There are those of us here who enjoy WKomm's postings. As it has been said many, many times before, you know what the posts are going to be about. If you don't like them, why bother reading them, let alone commenting about the "alleged" hate? Just pass them by. WKomm...as I have said many, many times in your defense, keep the posts coming. They always make me smile.

Y'know - I actually agree with grindl. We all know when we see a post started by WKomm that it's probably another cute Monson rant, and for every response someone makes to it WKomm will always respond much like how Pavlov's dogs always salivated at the sound of the bell. So take grindl's advice - pass 'em by.

Seriously, I hope you'll stick around. I like knowing that there's a real, live Seattle Radio
Pro-fesshunal type out there, willing to mix it up with us plebes.
