This topic was brought up in an earlier post but it seems you ex board ops that like to talk (BLEEP) about "talented" people currently WORKING got a bit off topic... so without further ado.
My list of Memphis radio talent going somewhere.
Leslie Wolf ROCK 103- Even though I have some very "interesting" pictures of her at a wet t-shirt contest I have to admit she is one of the best talents in Memphis. By the way Leslie if youre reading this WASSUP?? Can a brotha holla at a sister? Oh no wait, you work at 103. So you wanna ride on the back of my Harley and stroke my mullet?
Big Boy Q1075- Yea he's juvenile... so what? Thats his gig people. He's broadcasting to 12-24 year olds. What do you want from the guy? I see alot of talent with a HUGE upside (not trying to be punny).
Meagan White 98.1 the max- Only 2 years into it.. better watch out for this one. The combination of good looks and a stable starting ground will take her far.
Crate 93X- Not saying this because I work with the kid. He's got alot of talent and will eventually find his way out of Memphis.
Becki 93X- Thanks Q for giving us this awesome talent. Best weekend girl on staff since I've been here with a dynamic personality off air.
OK thats enough circle jerking and pretty much all I can think of.
By the way if anyone is interested I am throwing a huge party this weekend at Prince Mongo's CASTLE on Central
35 kegs... 10 dollar drink and drown.
And probably the finest ass you've seen in a while.

> Big Boy seems to be a funny guy sometimes. We are all missing out on a very important person. Supaman at HOT 107. The guy is very good at what he does.
Boogaboo HOT 107- the only jock I know that IS Memphis. Ive had a couple of chances to hang out with him and 3-6. Great guy and an incredible dj.
Devon Steele K97- Even though he was a bit of an ass the one time I met him. (Concieted A-HOLE would be a better word) He has talent... now if he could just get his head out of his ass. But then again he's afternoon talent and PD at a hip-hop station in Memphis. I guess he's at the apex of his game.
I also enjoy tuning into the gospil station from time to time. They got their (BLEEP) down. PRAISE JESUS!

EG you got that right - my boy Supa-D-OP is a genuine as can be. Also - Big Sue has done a helluva job with this being her ONLY radio gig.
Meggan at 98.1 the Max started kinda shaky - but man has she come on strong. I love that husky sound to her voice. Just makes me wanna...

I think Leslie Wolfe is going to do very well.
She's one of the best females to come along in a while.
I knew that when she was in Jackson.
I also agree that Megan White has come a LONG way.
I listened to her the other day and noticed the improvement.
I can't pick up a lot of the stations mentioned, and I know a LOT of the young jocks are very good, but you can't leave all the veterans out either.
Tom P. may be one of the best technically ever.
Bill Bannister (aside from his issues) is solid as a rock on Middays.
There is a lot of great radio talent in Memphis. There are a lot of talented people who work for not-so-great companies.
There is also a wealth of production talent in Memphis(employed AND freelance) that doesn't get the rcognition it deserves.
The larger question would be where is radio IN GENERAL going to be in 5-10 years?
What effect will sat. radio have? Ipods?, etc.
What stations will survive and which ones won't?

I second on the production talent. Please elaborate. I'm curious?
Thanks Trip! This is the topic of discussion I was trying to create, not the hissy fits that everyone threw. Jeez...

There are a lot of voices I don't have the names for.
Jim Sykes does an awesome job (Freelance)
Tim Forrest at Entercom is very good.
Although I don't remember (or don't know) the names, the guy who does most of the production at 103 et al is very good.
So's the one at the group Kix is in.
One of the best production voices to ever be there was Brian somebody who was in sales at Froggy before going to work at an agency selling.
It wasn't good to lose him to sales, but I guess he had to follow the money.
I just cannot recall his last name now, but that was an awesome commercial voice. I still hear him on some fashion store's spots...(Holliday's?) It was his account at Entercom before he left.
Most of the production in that market is really pretty good.
Can you put names with some of these?
Yeah, You're talking about Brian Sands. He's as smooth as they come. A real pro and a gentleman. Timmy Forrest and Jimmy Sykes are sick twisted bastages, But I cannot argue with the high level of their fargin' talent. This Sum a Batchin' industry is richer for people like them. Even though they are a couple of complete ice-holes in real life. That guy Twitch on 93X is real good. There is a lot of talent on Memphis radio. I've been around a while too. I did a live endorsement for fire.
______________
Leonard Lawrence

Ok my turn
Becky is cool...she left entercom and jumped to flinn..the to 93x along with fletch
Cat is also great. She's sounds greatand really funny.
Twitch I think you are funny especailly when you bounce of the the Traffic Biatch.
Big Boy (or however he spells it) cracks me up
Megan and Leslie kick ass (can I say that here)
Now to the people I work with
Lana (overnights and weekends) sounds @#$%ing awesome. Really take a listen you will be impressed.
Luke is great too. Both are up and coming watch out for them.
Argo is one of the funniest SOBs I know on and off the air.
Bill has proven himself in the 25 years he has been on the air.
Mike and Mandy just proved themselves this book and are a dream to wrk with at remotes (remember thats where I hand out keychains)
Actually all of WRVR and WMBZ kick ass (larry, pam, art, you name it)
Back to others
Jill Bucco has come a long way and really is awesome.
Theres not many people that I don't like on the air or off.
Ok sorry i kissed everyones ass on that post. But I stick by what I say

If you ever get a chance, listen to Doc Walker on afternoons on Elvis Radio. He reminds me of Ron Jordan, with a taste of Dewey Phillips and Jackson Armstrong thrown in for good measure. He also pops up on the "Sirius Disorder" channel from time to time.

My good friend Sykes does some work there, too.
I may have to get the sat. after all.
I've been avoiding it on principle.
