Foolish Clear Channel on Damage Control!

So, according to the ever so blogging Rodney Ho: the raging market manager at CC Atlanta, the annoying MELISSA FORREST is mad as hell at the AJC for reporting a possible WGST simulcast.

Forrest returned to work from Christmas break Jan. 3 in major damage control, she wrote to me. She said the blog entry I wrote last week makes it that much tougher for her sales staff to sell ads if there is any indication the station might not be around in its current incarnation.

She earlier sent me a note mocking the AJC’s “Credible. Compelling. Complete” slogan. “I don’t think you got the message yet,” she wrote. “That, it’s just not that important to you – the credible part…”

Later, she noted, “Yes, it’s like coming back from vacation and having a big, steaming pile of
crap on my desk.”

She deserves a "big, steaming pile of crap on her desk" for being so outrightly foolish at the downtown building of death. Meanwhile our last chance to save this country from the mad socialist in the WhiteHouse is being covered on a station that powers down to 1kW at night is being kept on the AM! Wow!

How long has MELISSA FORREST been running the Atlanta cluster for CC? Does she or have someone monitor social media? If I ran an operation in Atlanta with a media reporter (Rodney Ho), and several "trade" sites with Atlanta Blogs I would have someone (or myself) check these sires every couple of days? If something is "wrong" then "blog" using your name, company title, and the correct info. If you do not have the authority to do so then Email the correct person in Texas who can tell the truth!

IMHO This is why all major operations are going to have to be "staffed" 24 / 7 again not for DJ's but for someone to "ride herd" on the social media.

Such as declining ratings in the last book? CC Atlanta has bigger fish to fry than the opinions of bloggers. Maybe she needs to get on the phone and try to sell some spots.

The awful part about this is that we know that 'GST needs a simulcast. CC just doesn't want to admit that they were so fatally stupid pulling WGST off of the 105.7 signal. If they put it on the 105.3 signal, they would be admitting that they were wrong, something the people there do not admit: stupidity.

I have a new name for Atlanta's Chapter of CC: "CluelessChannel".

WGST Now at 92.3FM. What a joke. Now a FM signal that is actually weaker than their AM signal! And keeping 105.3 The Patron.

Clear Channel certainly knows what a big steaming pile is, that is for sure.



The only damage control that she is trying to do is selling as many ads as she can before they move Patron on down the dial.



My heart bleeds for Melissa Forrest. If you decide to sell your soul to the devil, (Cheap Channel), to say you’re employed, then you’ll always being doing damage control. Cheap Channel is probably the worst of all the radio corporate hogs. They earn the title of Cheap Channel. They pay most of their air people a slum-wage. (Usually, minimum wage or slightly above). while the Cheap Channel upper crust laugh all the way to the bank. Oh yes Melissa, my heart bleeds for you.

I don't normally comment on format's that I'm not that familiar with BUT I do believe CC would make a smart move by putting their talk format on the FM side of things at 105.3. Understand 95.5 WSB does not get out that well to the west of Douglasville and south of Newnan. If I'm not mistaken, isn't 105.3 tower located between Whitesburg and Newnan? Regardless, 105.3 signal will cover a part of the metro area that 95.5 does not do so well which would really keep 105.3 from being 95.5's competition, instead, just simply a better option based on reception.

I find the total ignorance of someone who would think a Puerto Rican can be "deported" to be so bizarre and amusing... it proves that none of the other comments of that person are rational.

The comment on Rodney's blog about a large chunk of their target audience moving out of Georgia, while unfortunately phrased, is accurate. The salespeople have a problem selling the Mexican format... perhaps because the idea of moving WGST to a strong stick MAKES LOGICAL SENSE to the people who heard it.

Those were the comments on Ho's blog in the AJC. That comment is quite tame compared to what usually gets posted by some of the bottom-feeders who post garbage there. No telling what you're gonna get on the lightly-moderated, anonymous AJC blogs.
