Football night in America studio mics

Would someone please tell me why they are using heavy compression on the studio mics during the sunday night broadcast of football night in america. I can't stand it....It makes me crazy every time Keith says anything. I have not worked in broadcasting for a few years now and I still notice little things like that. Will it ever stop? Will I ever be able to listen and watch like a normal person? God I hope so. On another note, I recently had a chance to visit Sam Phillips place in Memphis, I sat in the spot where the King sat for the pic of the million dollar quartet. Sun studios is still in use today. John Mellencamp recorded 9 songs there for his upcoming release just a few weeks ago. I will try to post some pics of this historic landmark in the music world in the next few days.

No it will not ever stop. And if truth be told, you don't really want that day to arrive.

moonshadow, I'm sorry to say but I want that day to come. I want to FORGET I ever worked in broadcasting and ALL that goes along with that. It changed me and it got to me at the same time. The affect that radio has had on me runs deep. Knowing what I know now, I would have signed off long before I did.
