YES - It's 'The Best Of Footy' - classic comedy bits and jingles and special guest stars - all this week. Governor Jeb Bush was on LIVE this morning. Sonny Fox is expected to appear (via telephone) later this week. I hope that we hear from Bobby Mitchell again. The 'Bobby & Footy' years were the glory years for the morning show.I get the impression that Michael Yo will not be part of the new 'Morning Show' that apparently debuts next Monday morning. Froggy apparently moves from Producer to co-star of the show, and I guess the new star of the show will be announced later this week.THE MAJOR
Major,What ever happened to Bobby Mitchell. He actually did me a favor and was the DJ at my wedding (I threw alot of business his way at one time). He is/was a good guy.Charlie L.
Bobby Mitchell is the current morning show host at country radio station '99.5-The Wolf' out of Dallas Texas.I met Bobby & Footy in person about 17 years ago when I sat in on an entire 'Morning Zoo' show. I drove up to their East Sunrise Blvd. Ft. Lauderdale studios at the time real early in the morning, and Bobby greeted me at the door. They were both real nice to me during the show.THE MAJOR
YES - Tomorrow (Friday May 05th) is Footy's final morning on the air, and he'll be broadcasting LIVE from Offerdahl's in Weston. (They've been broadcasting LIVE at a different South Florida location each morning since Tuesday.)Y-100.7 has a really nice 'Farewell To Footy' page on their official web site with some classic pictures of him.THE MAJOR
AllAccess reports today that Y is replacing the show with Elvis Duran, who'll be going back and forth between Y-100 and Z100 for a simulcast. The question I ask is: will South Florida listeners want a morning show that doesn't identify specifically with them? Y's always had a live and local morning show. They've never done anything like this before. I'm not so sure it's a good idea.I wrote more about this on my blog.
YES - It is no longer a secret. I have actually known about this for awhile, but I thought that it was appropriate to keep quiet about it until it was officially announced on Footy's final morning. I nearly blew it a few weeks ago when I unintentionally mentioned Z-100 New York in a related post on here about Y-100.7's ratings woes. I believe to cover my tracks I diverted attention away from Z-100 and over to the 'MJ Morning Show' out of 93.3-FLZ. How cunning of me ! Large portions of 'The Z-100 Morning Zoo' will be syndicated to Y-100.7. Froggy remains as part of the LIVE and local Miami portion of the show. Elvis Duran and members of his Zoo crew will occasionally broadcast LIVE from their 'Miami studio' (AKA Y-100.7's studio). You may remember Carolina Bermudez of the 'Z-100 Morning Zoo'. She was part of the 'Y-100.7 Morning Show' a couple of years ago with Kenny Walker and Footy. My personal opinion on this syndication deal - It's a giant step in the right direction. If it's executed properly then it could become South Florida's # 1 radio show in the morning (en Ingles).THE MAJOR
Just Curious Major. How do you know EXACTLY what will be going on with the Zoo if it wasn't even finalized until this week? I would imagine this thing was top secret.
