FOOTY RETURNS TO Y-100 !

Really - It's true !

This morning Elvis Duran and his crew talked to the legendary Footy for about 10 minutes or so. It was his first appearance back on the morning show since he left this past May. Footy discussed his recent trip to Cuba, and basically what he's been up to since he retired over 5 months ago. It was so great to hear him again on the radio if only for a short period of time. I believe the segment aired only on Y-100.

i dont really understand how that whole broadcast in new york AND miami without really interfering with each market's local identity. it doesnt sound right to me. the whole morining zoo is in new york...while froggy is alone here in miami..and all they're connected to is something like a zephyr box..sounds too processed. but then again..with CC at the helm (and the way they've been doing business as of late) processed radio broadcasting will thrive at 100.7. toxifying our society in to one big consuming blob full of starbuck mornings, cheescake factory nights, and macy (one day sale) weekends. it completely erases our local identity. television may have won that fight. but radio in miami/ft. lauderdale is THAT..what reflects miami/ft.lauderdale...its not naperville, IL or mesa,az or some agrestic-like ficitional suburban paradise with brand name logos stickered all over the place.

I totally understand and respect your viewpoint, but you must remember that we share an intense passion and love for the radio business - how it works and how it sounds. The average 'Elvis Duran & The Morning Zoo' listener - a professional female in her 20s or 30s who is taking her kids to school and then driving herself to work - does not think that hard about the radio business as we do. She just wants to be entertained - laugh a bit at the jokes and the funny stuff that she hears, and then sing along to her favourite mainstream smash hits while she is suffering through all of the morning rush hour traffic and then dealing with her boss and co-workers at the workplace. It doesn't matter if she is in Secaucus New Jersey or Kendall Florida. Elvis Duran and his crew have been successfully delivering the goods to their target demographics up north for a good decade, and now down here for just over 5 months. If she likes what she hears then she will continue to tune-in. She doesn't really care (or perhaps doesn't even know) where the morning show's hosts are physically located at.

As I have said, I didn't have high hopes for this simulcast, but it seems to be working out. I listen to the morning zoo every morning and I just love it. Froggy fits in well and it sounds great.

(Although some of the coversations are a bit inappropriate for children. The conversation at 6:45 this morning was about sex!)

Hi Kevin,

Do you listen to the show because you're a fan of Z-100 and its music, or do you listen to the show just because it's a good show ? Do you switch stations at 10 AM ?

That's true. There's a lot of sex talk on the show, and sometimes it even starts during the cast introductions at 5:57 AM. The kids are listening in at that hour. Sometimes the sex talk can be a bit too much (especially since it's female-skewed), but then again you have to expect that when you listen to the show.

I remember when Kenny & Footy (here at Y-100) would tout 'after 8 AM' (once the kids were in school) when they would begin discussing the spicy topics.

I listen mostly because it is a good show, although I do enjoy some of the music on Z100.
