FOR A NEW YORK CITY COUNTRY STATION-HOW ABOUT ???

Hello all, I'm not from New York City, I'm from Boston, yes, it's sad to see that there is no Country Radio Station in New York City. I'm not crazy over Country music, if I listen to Country Music, I like New Country music. I myself used to work at Greater Media's Country 99.5 here in Boston (It is now Country 102.5-It is hard to get on a walkman when inside the city of Boston and around the Major Boston College areas, and Downtown Boston). I loved it there, that was my biggest break, thank you very much at the Programming Personal there.

Anyways, I put myself in you all shoes. Over here in Boston, there is no true Urban AC station. There are a number of (Pirate Radio stations=about 5 that you can only get in three Boston's Urban Cities, if you have access to internet you can listen to them online) Other than that, we have no true Urban AC station here in Boston. So I know how you all feel who like Country Music in New York City

My question is, how about these two stations for a Country Radio Station in New York City? 103.9 WFAS, or 100.7 WHUD. Which of those two stations are better to get inside and outside New York City?

For begginers, how is this programming?
Week
Midnight-7pm Hot Country-Dial-Global.com (Formats-More, DG Total-More, Then choose "Hot Country)
7pm-Midnight The Big Time With Whitney Allen-Dial-Global.com (Programs, Daily Shows, Then "The Big Time with Whitney Allen)
Saturdays
Midnight-8am HOT Country-Dial-Global.com
8am-Noon The Crook and Chase Countdown-Premrad.com (Entertainment Programs)
Noon-7pm HOT Country-Dial-Global
7pm-Midnight The Big Time Saturday Night-Dial-Global.com
Sundays
Midnight-7am HOT Country-Dial-Global.com
7am-9am ACMR-Unitedstations.com
9am-Noon Country Countdown USA-Westwood One Radio Network
Noon-7pm HOT Country-Dial-Global.com
7pm-8pm Country's Cutting Edge
8pm-Midnight Country's Hotlist with Shawn Parr-Unitedstations.com

I say this because we have to keep it Hardcore for New York City. Dakota Summers is the most famous radio host on HOT Country, I used to listen to her on an former affilate when she used to be on with Jones Radio Network. She's on weekdays 10am-3pm. Look here in the future for affilates if I find any to listen to HOT Country

They gotta put it on either: 103.5 FM, 102.7, 99.5, 94.7, 92.3 (most definately, KRock had wayy better numbers than NOW and also CBS, let CC handle CHR cuz they got a lot more CHRs that are a lot more successful than you guys are) or on 93.1, or they could do some kind of quadcast with 107.1 again. nothing that's in west chester county or anything like that cuz people in Passaic (especially northern/western,as well as Morris and Sussex wouldn't be able to receive the country station) That's not fair to us!

Here in Brooklyn 11230,103.9 AND 100.7 are occupied by pirates!!!!I can get Press' HIT 106 but they are never going to put country there and The Breeze will stay soft A/C.Country fans in the NY market have already gone over to alternative media for their fix. There is zero chance of a AM or FM country station arriving over the airways of Brooklyn anytime soon.

Yeah, like they are going to tak a station that bills similarly to WQHT and WPLJ and do a start up on it?

When a profitable format is switched, you loose all the revenue and then it takes a year or two to get back to a good level. Look at CBS-FM as an example.

I always scratch my head when country fans point to 103.5 as one of their top choices to flip... I understand it was once country... but why would Clear Channel flip something successful? It's a top 5 station, it bills well, and has the second highest cume in all of America.

Not only that, but also, isn't the relevant question which if any of the commercial broadcasters might make such a switch (CBS, Emmis, CC, etc.) but which station might be a reasonable candidate. NOT simply a station whose current format you wouldn't mind disappearing. Sound reasonable? Think like a corporate manager.

Now, there are places on the dial where corporate managers might not seem to be thinking like corporate managers, e.g. Salem (WMCA, WNYM), Whitney Media (WVIP), and there are usually reasons for that, often having to do with missions other than strict profit-and-loss on the signal in question or the realization that a brokered/ethnic format is the best they can do. Then there are managers who aren't necessarily corporate or not corporate at all, e.g. Family Radio (WFME), the Pillar of Fire Church (WAWZ), Pacifica (WBAI), etc. Good luck with that.

And there's always satellite radio and the internet. Dance music fans like me have grown to love them. So can you!

for those who are on the northern side of NYC don't forget you have country KIX 105.5 for northern Westchester, northern-Central Fairfield, Putnam and Dutchess county.. I know not NYC But its a start.

There were some turkeys (and that is being polite) at the top of CBS Radio who thought listeners of WCBS-FM were too old and flipped the station to the dreaded Jack format. (I don't want to rehash the entire story). After two years those responsible for this move were fired and WCBS-FM came back with a "Greatest Hits" format playing mostly hits from 1964-89.

It wasn't that Jack was all that bad. It had to do with how, where, and why they did it.

Don't forget, Press does operate a country station, and by the numbers, WKMK (Thunder) did over a 3.0. It would be nice to have Thunder on 106.3 or 107.1, but Hit is billing very well when it comes to the advertisers in this market, and Hit isn't going anywhere regards of it's overall numbers. Same story with The Breeze. I do agree though that Thunder should be on 106.3 and have Hit on 98.5.
