For all the CBS-FM haters

CBS sounds OK,i wish they had more of thier old retro format though that they had BEFORE THE CHANGE!!

I will say this: AT LEAST STUFF IS PLAYED @ THE RIGHT SPEED!

It sounds like Musicradio 77 in the late 70s around the disco period. yuk

If I had to compare now with before the switch to JACK, they sounded much better in 2005.

Despite all the JACK haters, JACK was a far superior to both formats, particularly as an 80s oldies format. It is unlikely in the long term they will be able to pull 2.2 numbers like they did with JACK.

Yeah... I agree. Playing 280 songs over and over is FAR superior to playing more than 600 in regular rotation. I truly miss hearing "Build Me Up Buttercup" every six hours. Now, honestly, I enjoy CBS-FM more now than in 2005. A bigger variety... some great additions to the on-air staff... but that's my opinion.

This is a ridiculous statement. Right... So CBS Radio figures, "Hey, why not blow up JACK, hire personalities, and bring back the classic hits format which probably won't get any ratings." Sounds perfectly logical to me.

Also, GIVE IT TIME! We don't know how CBS-FM will do in the ratings, and the PPMs are coming to NYC this fall, so that could make or break them. Wait and see before making premature statements about the second fall of WCBS-FM.

I would assume you liked JACK and don't like the fact that CBS-FM is back and took over at 101.1. Is that it? I understand that you're miffed, but quit making statements like that. Opinions are fine, and if you liked 101.1 better in '05... fine. But saying that the station will never hold on to better ratings than JACK... it's ludicrous to make such a statement at this time. It's just like the oldies fans back in '05 saying JACK would do horribly. Did it do horribly? No - it just didn't do as well as the oldies format in ratings and billing. Let's WAIT AND SEE what happens at CBS-FM. It's still re-establishing itself.

Check out CBS FM's TOP 500 Countdown. What a fantastic job they have done with the music this weekend! I can't wait to hear what songs they play next! The music department has done a phenomenal job covering just about all of the NY hits from the entire rock n roll Top 40 era. Great job with the music variety and I hope they keep it up.

Agreed...though they do seem to be playing many 60s songs from the Beatles, etc. That Music Radio WABC didn't play too many of during their disco period in the late 70s early 80s.
I have noticed that WCBS-FM doesn't seem to be including all available 60s & 70s Pop songs especially those pop songs that didn't peek over the Top 10 not too mention Top 40.

What a quote, that's all I can say!

CBS FM sounds tremendous. Well researched, solid personalities, and what an oldies station sounds like in 2007.

When CBS FM came back, my radio was tuned and locked in. Now I can listen to the historic WCBS FM New York....

I left my preset for 101.1 even after the change to Junk ... er, I mean Jack!

Like a child, CBS-FM has got to mature for a changing time and audience. I know I listen when I'm in the car and it's great to finally have a station that I can listen to while driving. I think over time the station will improve on what they're doing.

I think that only people expecting the old CBS-FM of years gone by will be a bit disappointed but I think there's a solid foundation for a great listen.

I do have to admit, I only listen in my car, but given I have my own station I don't think that's half bad!

JACK was a joke as evidenced by the ratings. CBS made a mistake, realized it and smartly rectified it before it was too late. The station sounds great (better than most in the market) and will prosper in the Big Apple.....wish we could get it over the air here in California!

I'm not in New York and I like them!

Same here. Just be glad y'all don't have to listen to the junk we have in Houston Tx. If I could only get the radio in my truck to pick up that far ;)

Rock on CBS-FM

Poops

Here in Boston we have WODS which is also a CBS O&O, and while it is okay it is NOT CBS-FM. It does not have the same personality and does not have Dan Taylor & Bob Shannon. So I when I am home I always have the stream of CBS on the computer ;D ;D ;D

I actually found out about this station on the Houston board in a thread about a former KHTC personality (Ron Parker) landing an evening gig at CBS-FM. Ron is a great talent and will be a great asset to the station. It's really nice hearing him back on the air (even if its not in Houston). Y'all have my vote for best station.

I think CBS-FM sounds great, it has taken over as "New York's Feel Good station." Sorry KTU!

KTU is often ripped on here, but while its nice to see the rebound of CBS, take note that "The Beat of NY" soared during that trend too... back up to the 3's 12+ right along side CBS and scored some almost equially as nice demo #'s too...

I knew KTU would rebound once it dropped all the horrid new house/diva records that aren't connecting with anyone except for 'house' djs(who have a vested interest in such recordings)..good for the handsome and talented Mr. Miller....

CBS-FM stopped playing pre 1964 music as part of there regular rotation in 2002. In 2003, they started a Sunday Night HOF show hosted by Norm N. Nite consisting of pre 1964 music from the Rock and Roll HOF. I would like to see a Sunday Night Show of pre 1964 music on the new CBS-FM. Don K. Reed will be hosting the NY Radio Greats this Sunday for the 2nd time in 5 weeks. Last time when he was on he played mostly pre 1964 music. I feel the station is much better than it was on 6/3/05 when it flipped to Jack. The playlist on 6/3/2005 was 284 songs. The station is much better now with a bigger playlist.
