Speaking of confused ...."Things I'd Like to Say" was by the New Colony Six, not Classics IV.Classics Four "Things I'd like to say" That is one beautiful song!
Not to be confused with "Things I should have said" by the Grass Roots!

WDRC-FM Hartford, back in its oldies days, used to play the Mamas & the Papas' "I Saw Her Again" through one channel every time it aired. The lead singer on the song was barely heard at all, disappearing completely at some points when all one could hear coming out of the speakers was the "doo-doo-doo-doo-ing" of the backing vocalists. That faulty file was used for much of the station's last decade under Buckley Broadcasting's ownership.I can't tell you how many times I've been in a store where only one side of their stereo is playing.
Oops! I meant New Colony Six. Need more Omega 3. :-(Speaking of confused ...."Things I'd Like to Say" was by the New Colony Six, not Classics IV.
Nor familiar with it. I like "Traces" and "Stormy". Do not like "Spooky" which Dean Daughtry and J.R. Cobb did with Atlanta Rhythm Section. I like their version better.Classics Four "Things I'd like to say"
An oldies station where I live played "Up Up and Away" by The Fifth Dimension and there was a whole section of the song that sounded like something was missing.WDRC-FM Hartford, back in its oldies days, used to play the Mamas & the Papas' "I Saw Her Again" through one channel every time it aired. Same, except I do like the Classics IV version of "Spooky".Nor familiar with it. I like "Traces" and "Stormy". Do not like "Spooky" which Dean Daughtry and J.R. Cobb did with Atlanta Rhythm Section. I like their version better.
KXBX 1270 was like this for years back in it's MOYL days. Often I would hear a song with one (usually right) channel missing ("California Dreamin'" sounds really odd, since much of the main melody is carried on the right). An oldies station where I live played "Up Up and Away" by The Fifth Dimension and there was a whole section of the song that sounded like something was missing.
Definitely. I think they're still on America's Best Music. The Vogues, The Lettermen, groups like that. We have a few of their records.
Just hopefully without that awful Haeco-CSG processing that plagued many of their late '60s recordings. The Vogues, The Lettermen, groups like that. We have a few of their records.
Haeco-CSG was supposed to improve mono compatibility, by reducing "center channel buildup". A lot of later mono 45s sent to radio stations were made by taking a stereo recording, running it through the CSG processor, and summing the output to mono. It allegedly eliminated the need to make a dedicated mono mix of the recording.I'll have to go through my collection and check this out. There are some stereo recordings that sound marginal in mono, and I'm wondering if this is why.
From the 80s...
Key Largo -- Bertie Higgins
Just Like Starting Over -- John Lennon
Always On My Mind -- Willie Nelson
Key Largo -- Bertie Higgins
Let's hope this thread doesn't devolve into repeating songs posted earlier (reference post #16).
I think it might be starting....Key Largo - Bertie Higgins
I just did a "find in page", which is OK when you only have two pages. How are we going to deal with repeats when this thread gets longer?
That being said, from the 80s:
Wake Me Up Before You Go Go -- Wham!
I Just Called To Say I Love You -- Stevie Wonder
