OK, so let's hear it for the cracked production crew hanging with G & J today on the "new" Lite.
1. She was 30 minutes late. Ironic, she was caught in traffic
2. They couldn't even edit out the parts in the rather moving montage that make G & J sound like twits. "So we had to make an emergency landing." "Oh, the chopper?" (No, not the chopper. She was a stunt double for Aladdin 4: The Quest for Dallas and the magic carpet was tired.)
3. Either the mics were on steroids or they were positioned way too close to Chip and his stand-up reports. It was an auditory collision that made my eardrums bleed.
4. How do you spell o-v-e-r-m-o-d-u-l-a-t-i-o-n?
But now the highlights:
1. Julie getting emotional admitting she is ground-bound from hear on out. To those of us that know her and had the privilege to meet her, there will be a small black cloud in DFW because of her absence. Really touching to hear that.
2. Chip getting verklempt when saying how glad he was that she was there.
3. Gene (yeah, he gets a shout out) admitting that Julie was hot because she has never been outside a pair of sweats.
All in all, you couldn't help being glued to the radio for her first traffic report. Man, that woman is such an immaculate pro. So completely glad to hear her back on the air. At a desk in Metro or soaring the air waves above, she is a staple to traffic in this town. Congratulations to Julie and phhhtttttttttttttt to KVIL engineers and producers. Not their finest hour, but should have been considering the situation.
