FOR LISA WOOD FANS: AN UPDATE

Does this finally mean that we Seattle folks no longer have to read Lisa complain about radio, and yet continue to work in the field? Thank God.

After "20 years in Seattle", it looks like Lisa's decided to seek a radio career in the Rose City.

You left an extra "s" in the word "fans."

Translation to this news:

She's burnt all of her bridges here in Seattle, now she has to move to another city.

LISA WOOD

Why?....is there a warrant out for her arrest or something?.....I mean GEEZ!

You're one of those that chews radio people UP, and them just spits them out, AQH...

..get a friggin' LIFE!

Someone who tracks plastic roll signage is telling ME to get a life? That's a good one. :D

This is Lisa Wood.

I swore I would never post on this board, but since you're all talking about me, mostly with false information and assumptions (ass*u*me), I figured I'd set you all straight. At least that way you can argue about me with correct information.

If you're all so consumed with what I'm doing with my life, why don't you ask me. My website and email are no secret.

I moved to Seattle in 1986 and graduated from Issaquah High School in 1990. Let me make it easy on you. 1986 - 2006 = 20 years.

Someone said I'm moving because I burned bridges? Yea, that's a good one. I just won "Best Radio Personality" in the Seattle Times People's Picks. Surely this community must really hate me. I have a GREAT career here, a wonderful music programming day job in addition to my radio work and the move has nothing to do with work.

Why don't you look at some of the comments on my myspace to see how many people here truly appreciate what I have done here?

It's absolutely not your business, but I don't want false information out there, so here you go. We are moving because we love Portland and nothing more. I've been in Seattle 20 years, my guy his whole life. It's simply time for a change. He is a Chef and I live and breathe music/radio. Both jobs can be done anywhere and we plan to experience much more than one place in this gigantic world.

No, there's no warrant out for my arrest. I'm a lot of things, but I'm not a delinquint or a felon.

Sure, I've had some bad experiences with a few radio stations. Who hasn't? In any industry, everyone's had a [EDIT] job or a bad experience with a crappy boss. I just chose to speak out about it. Not all radio is bad, I've never said that and once again you jump to conclusions, making everything this dramatic, over-exaggerated ball of gossip. I absolutely love radio and MOST of my experiences have been great ones, especially with KEXP and KFNK. Both have been so incredibly supportive and empowering to what great radio and community connections can be.

Because I made a decision to focus on the good and on the positive, my blog doesn't even exist anymore. What exactly are you "still" reading?

I'm not going to stay on here, I'm not going to spat back and forth with you. This is the only post I will make. If you have questions, email me. If you want information, email me. But please stop posting false information and talking ------ regarding something you don't even have the facts about.

And for anyone who made it this far, I am looking for someone who is decidated, passionate, reliable and great on the radio to take over the Tuesday night local show on KFNK. Once again, email me.

It's been a great ride, peace out.

Lisa...

First off from one Issaquah graduate to another, my apologizes for sounding 'harsh' on my previous post. I only know of you from the occasional post from people on how you once again have made comments on your blog about the shape of radio, and specifically Seattle radio. Radio in general has made HUGE changes since I got into it three days after graduating from Issaquah High School. Are these changes for the best? Not in my option. But do I sit and write about just how bad corporate radio is? No. Why? I still get paychecks from those big corporations. I work production from home for three shows in Seattle, and one in New York.

Radio is in my blood and has much as I disagree with the state that radio is at these days, with voice tracking and all...I still love it...just like you said in your post. I would think if we work in the field, we have to love it.

You said you 'swore I would never post on this board'. Why would that be? This is another thing that you are to above doing? I have worked in radio (like I said) since three days after graduating from high school (I am in my 40's) and have not stopped working in radio since then, and I still enjoy posting here sometimes. If I was an auto mechanic and there was a forum for auto mechanics, I would post there as well. It is a board for people that work in, or love the business from the outside.

Looking back, I have no clue what I am trying to say here, other than good luck in your new adventure and sorry if I sounded 'harsh'. I was just going off the fact that people always posted links to your blogs when you were bitching about radio again. I should have my eyes open a little wider.

Sorry I had to back in and made edits (see below). I did not edit the content, I (being a graduate of Issaquah) can't spell and had to go in and fix my stupidity.

Sigh......

I will respond to you, but only because the private messaging seems to be disabled here. Past this, please email me and I'm happy to discuss.

If you were an auto mechanic and there was a forum for auto mechanics, but it consisted of many of your fellow auto mechanics berating you, calling you names and posting false information about you with ZERO respect for you as a person, would you want to be there?

I never expect everyone to agree with me, but I always try to respect people's opinions (even if I vehemently disagree) as we're all entitled to ours. There's well thought out debate and there's childish, disrespectful spatting. I prefer well thought out, respectful debate.

My blog was supposed to serve as a place for information. A place where people could learn from my experiences and talk about how things really go down, RESPECTFULLY. It spun out into a place where people spouted negativity and venom and that's not my style. Admittedly, I got sucked into it and spatted back. In looking at it, I was very disappointed in myself for letting it get to me like that, hence the choice to delete it and pursue things in a much more positive way.

I think sometimes there are some good discussions here, but most of the time, it seems very argumentative and not very constructive. I don't want to be a part of it if it's not doing anyone any good. Radio is this AMAZING tool and everyone behind the mic has an opportunity to help people, help their community and do great things while entertaining the listeners. I wish more would.

I understand the "don't bite the hand that feeds you" analogy, however, I do have the 'stand up for what you believe in' bone and it's a strong one. Not something I can do away with easily. There are practices I can put up with, but when it comes to lying, deceiving and belittling listeners, I have zero tolerance for it.

I hope this explains a little better and any further correspondence, please direct to me privately on email. Happy to chat.

You burned your bridges within the Seattle radio community, with management. You have a reputation for not doing your job and being vocal when you suffer the reprocussions from that. You had no problem talking to anyone about that issue. Remember the newspaper articles trumpeting your "whoa is me" story at KISW? You even changed your blog address, presumably to appeal to mainstream media, because it's doubtful that "f*kkinwood" is something that would make the pages of The Times or The PI, would it?

Speaking of newspapers, congratulations on that Seattle Times poll. However, like it or not, it's the polling that Arbitron does is what counts.

By the way, what's the correlation between your burning bridges and that Times poll? Are you insinuating that people at Entercom voted you in?

Of course you're going to get people that stroke you on your myspace page. People did frown upon you on your old blogspot page, but you did the favor in return.

Good for you on your personal decision. Seriously.

But if someone types something incorrect about you here, what's the big deal? It comes over as if you have some kind of ego to feed by correcting "false information out there." Equifax and the other credit agenices are places to correct "false information out there," not some radio discussion board. Again, it makes you come over as if your ego made you post here.

I only wish I had the archives to your old blog to point out the "false information" YOU posted.

You are absolutely correct in saying that people have bad experiences at radio stations. You mastered the milking of the terms of your dismissal to maximize your "whoa is me" and the "the man is holding me down" positions you took. All of this was derived from the fact that you couldn't execute the simple job you were asked to do. Not doing your job will get you fired in ANY profession. You chose to take it personally and let everyone know about it.

On the copied and pasted text from your blog over here were your words that made you come over as being perplexed as to why you were dismissed at KISW. Then it was how commercial radio and the big bad corporations were doing evil. All the while you were gleefully collecting paychecks from Metro Traffic (owned by Infinity), and later from Clear Channel. Not to mention the greed and internal money issues that are rampant at the savior KEXP.

Good luck in Portland.
