For Mix 1079 to Survive...

They're going to need to make the flip to Modern AC. WZPL out of Indy has this formula understood. They aren't at the top of the ratings, but it's also in a city with WNOU and the new I-94 which they're beating btw.

WZPL 6pm:

Taylor Swift - Mine
Staind - It's Been Awhile
Nelly - Just A Dream
Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl
Linkin Park - Numb
Paramore - The Only Exception
Ke$ha - Tik Tok
Plain White T's - Rhythm Of Love
Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow
Train - If It's Love
Enrique Iglesias/Pitbull - I Like It
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Soul To Squeeze
All-American Rejects - It Ends Tonight

Now, Mix plays most of those, but Mix's 6pm hour containted songs such as:

Naked Eyes - Always Something There To Remind Me
Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars

Their currents get old fast and they're not going to last with this stale format. Mix 97.1 did well for a reason, it was a WNCI alternative and they bragged about it! Mix has the tools and I think they need to learn before they end up flipping.

There's a lot more to it than just that.

WZPL has a full city signal. Radio Now's signal is far less, and i94 doesn't even cover it.

Mix 107.9 plays Naked Eyes and Dishwalla because it is Hot AC, not Modern AC.

I know what they are... but it's not what they need to be to make it. Most of the people I know... BORED with Mix!

Another good example... Mix 94.1 in Canton... reminds me of the old 97.1

Basically what lovejamminoldies is saying here is they need to make it like Mix 97.1 was right before they flipped, a Modern AC. I said in another post yesterday they need to leave the stale 80s tunes to Rewind and the 90s tunes to Gen X and be the Columbus alternative to WNCI.

Exactly! Thanks Alan. Mix 97.1 should've never flipped! I know why they did it and it's working on the Fan but I bet if Mix was still here, they'd be doing very well in PPM. Mix 94.1 - Canton - perfect example

I'm not sure if WZPL is a great example. They have suffered in the ratings as of late, and made a PD change.

WKRQ/Cincy is a good example, but ""Modern AC" really isn't a format anymore.
