For Sale: Radio One Columbus ...?

I was informed several days ago that R.O. Columbus has been (or is currently being) prepped for sale. Anyone know if it's true?

Thanks for the confirmation ... new to the boards... :)

It's been so long since I giggled with glee...
This feels good.

That's toooooo bad. May be they can clean up 107.5. I didn't realize they were so trashy until I read it on this board. Is Main Line buying them too?

Mainline is surprisingly not shopping Columbus. You would be very very surprised to see who is however.

Radio One is going to get picked apart and 2 FM's will prolly get spun off into a trust. Now if you can figure out what I mean...primarily because I know the broker shopping the stations and who already has a blank check waiting in the wings. What I do know is that with all the move ins, you will see one company grow and probably another comany moving to town. And the company growing wont be here forever, thats for sure!

I know its too soon to really speculate on format changes, but would whomever that gets WCKX really want to change formats? after all, despite the critics on this forum it has done very well in the arbs overall.

WCKX just needs to "de-thug" and program a tad more female-friendly R&B (e.g. less "grillz, gold, and 22-inch rims").

My opinion is the need to "de-thug" the DJ's and the imaging more so than the music but add more gold. They play the same 10 songs every hour over and over again. There's so many hits from back in the day that you never hear anymore.

Edit to add: All the people I talk to about 107.5 who have nothing to do with the radio industry say the same thing. They're all just radio listeners who are tired of the same crap we're fed day after day.

Did any of you guys get to listen to WNCI over the weekend? It was refreshing radio. They actually played variety during a special "Old School" format they did. They still played their usual songs, but 2-3 times an hour they threw in a "whoa did they just play that?" type of song. Heard things like Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise, Young MC's Bust a Move, Paula Abdul's Straight Up, Bobby Brown's Every Little Step, Digital Underground's The Humpty Dance, etc. I was impressed, for WNCI standards at least! :)

Not sure what that has to do with THIS thread? Care to find a connection? Regardless, IT WAS a fantastic voyage..

I have a friend that works for Radio One out of Dayton. I hope he'll be alright after all this?

What station? I'm in Dayton. Depending on the station, he should be fine.
