For the record (as Bill Brown would say) the last song played on WCBS-FM within the format was Rescue Me by Fontella Bass not Summer Wind.
Bill Brown said goodbye over the intro to Rescue Me. After that, the station left its format and played straight music without spots for a half hour.
Bob Shannon, of course, never made it to the microphone. So I consider the last song played in the format to be Rescue Me.
After that, what really happened was that CBSFM.com started broadcasting over the air on 101.1 and then left the air to broadcast over the net at 4:30PM, but the real station abandoned its format at 4:00PM with Rescue Me as the last song played.<P ID="signature">______________
