For those about to Rock [92.3]...

Wow, I would think they would flip 106.1 though. Thank goodness it maybe coming back...

Why flip 106.1 to Rock and not have a signal over GNO like 104.1 was putting out?

Actually I would expect IMO for mix to shift to 106.1 as most of the listeners IMO are more on the northshore anyway, let Mike have the oldies format which technically is starting to age out of your demos, and Rock Louisiana on 92.3 .... If Citadel held 93.7 still, I'd do a co-station signal rocking Louisiana basically from Alexandria to the BP oil well

Dont suppose they'd try to resurrect the old WCKW calls eh?

Call and ask Citadel or start a write in campaing about the call sign. If it goes through I hope it is a better rotation of current new modern rock / indie rock not all old rock that CC had on 104.1

Any reason why domains were registered for SmoothJazz923NewOrleans.com and Sports923NewOrleans.com...? This is according to radioinsight.com.

Same reason given there: smokescreen - and fairly lousy ones at that.

Also, RI mentions how all the major sports net affliations are taken, but I'd wager Sporting News Radio would jump ship from WWL if a station offered them more clearances than WWL's dip in the bucket. If so, I'm sure ESPN Radio would happily fill any holes on L that might pop up, so a flip of 106.1 to Sports (as mentioned in another thread) isn't far-fetched.

Now that you mention sports - I have to admit that 104.7 switching the FOX Sports Radio has to be one of the worst formats around. That morning show is absolutely TERRIBLE and most other dayparts are way over done. FOX tries to go after the younger male audience - problem is none of them listen to radio - they all do their Ipods or satellite.

Anyone knows when anything will happen? It's been about a week since the domains were registered.

My guess is soon. Their spot load seems light. During one stopset today I heard two direct response adds, one for diet pills and one for credit consolidation, then back to a set of music.

Another site says it is a definite. I dont know I cant stand what Mix is playing so I cant listen to see if the spots are light right now which is usually a dead giveaway...Unless of course they just cant sell anything ;D

Any chance Citadel is greasing the skids for a new owner to take over?

I don't think Johnny as much as it's smart biz.. think about it, 104.1 had higher numbers when CC killed it than what 92.3 had, So a flip to a format that was non existant in NOLA and had good numbers is a better idea than what they were running

Looks like the WCKW calls won't be on 92.3 at all as well as the WDVW calls it was forced on it 5 years ago.... Station just Ided as WRKN
