And for those that remember Lorena Macarena from Estereo Latino KLTN who later started her own morning show on 106.5 ( Formally KLOVE) with Vidal Luna. Well I heard on KYST-AM that starting monday morning she will be on air on that station.

Mr Eduardo why did she ever leave Univision?

hey-
yes i remember lorena macarena..and what i know of is that she is on KQQK XO radio, taking over robin's spot ... robin went to la rockola 96.7 in L.A....best of wishes for him, but anywho, there is a lot of changes in XO.... is it a good move though??

I wasnt talking in spanish, and I havent seen anything saying Houston English radio forum. The Title of the Forum is Houston-Galveston radio forum, so spanish language programs are included.

This is a Houston radio forum. Since about a quarter of the listening in Houston is to Spanish langauge stations, it would seem significant enough that discussions about that segment be not just appropriate but welcome.

I think it taps into a very polarizing and emotionally charged debate - suffice it to say English speaking persons don't give a ____ about Spanish speaking stations, and Spanish speaking persons don't give a ____ about English speaking stations. Since it is 25% Spanish and 75% English, the Spanish language stations and discussions are totally uninteresting to 3/4 of the persons here. But you are right, they are relevant.

Beyond that - there is the whole "it is rude to speak a language nobody around you understands" debate, which is an issue separate from radio.

Actually, about 75% of Spanish speakers in Houston listen to English radio to some degree, ranging from all the time to just occasionally.

Since there are only 100 shares in any ratings system, it stands to reason that the more shares Spanish language stations have, the less are available to all the other stations.

Beyond that - there is the whole "it is rude to speak a language nobody around you understands" debate, which is an issue separate from radio.

In a changing world, I think we see that it's proper for people to speak to each other in the language they are the most comfortable, fluent and proficient in.

As my grandmother used to say... "I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person."

I couldn't give 2 rat farts about spanish radio either, but let's keep it civil people...
