For Those That Love to Pray

I know this may not be the place to put this but I have an urgent Prayer request.

Yes I'm still working on brining WAY FM, to Selma Alabama.  However that may soon be a memory.

I say that because we now have a "Gang" problem here.  We have the Bloods and Crips and they love to get into fights, outside Selma High School, after school hours.  It has many of our residents scared and fearful for their own lives and saftey.

We also have been experiencing a spike in the crime rate.  We've been experiencing many shootings, drug dealings and various other violent behaviors, for the past few years now.

Things are not looking to good for Selma Alabama.  Although we're now blessed to have Moody Radio at 89.5 and American Family Radio at 91.1, we still need something else.

That's why I'm working on bringing WAY FM to this community.

If you're able to help make this dream a reality, Mr. Jackd and/or anyone else affiliated with that awesome Ministry, that would be an answer to a 17 year Prayer Request.  Been Praying and working for this to happen, since I Graduated from Selma High in 1991.

I hope and Pray that Selma Alabama doesn't soon become a lawless community.  If that happens, I may be forced to leave.

Have a blessed day and keep servin' the Lord.

It may take more than having a CCM radio station in your town to clean up those problems. It sounds like we might also want to be praying for some brave preachers to go out in those communities to reach these kids for Christ (as in Cross and the Switchblade - Rev. David Wilkerson, Pat Boone played the part of David Wilkerson in the movie that was based on the book). In other words a revival for your town. However you've got the right idea, prayer. Unfortunately these sorts of problems are happening all over America as our nation drifts further away from serving and honoring our Lord. Unfortunately many people think God's last name is Da*n. Rather than honoring his precious name they use it as a vulgar word of anger. Of course this lack of respect for God also shows in how they behave, how they talk to each other, etc. However, all things are possible through Christ, so let not your heart be burdened.

You might want to be seeking to hear what the Lord want you to do, rather than moving away. The Lord may have placed you there in Selma to be his Paul to that troubled community. Obviously, you want to hear from God about whether or not to stay or leave. If God is directing you to leave, then that's the correct thing to do. If he's directing you to stay, then leaving would be wrong and against God's will.

I'll keep you in prayer RDP so that you'll hear from the Lord and know as surely as you know the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, what if, anything, God wants you to do. Be Blessed.

The Reverend Bruce Wall has been doing great things in Boston. True the crime rate has been on the rise here, however he has done things such as prayer walks, reaching out to the community, etc.

Hi Dan,

I too will be praying for you and the community of Selma. We have seen some increases
in gang activity here in our area, too.

Since you also do some writing, perhaps that may be another tool that God can use through you
to help reach your community.

It's not just Selma. Truly, we've got to get America back to God.

Thanks for your beautiful responses. My plans are to stay put for now and hope that something wonderful will results from the troubles I'm experiencing.

Yes I'm still going to create new resources and pass them out. The Tracts that I do, seem to be working. Everywhere I pass them out, they do very well. I'm always passing some out, every other day.

I know that having WAY FM won't solve every problem we have but it will help in a big way, if we had them.

You certainly have my prayers. Moving would solve nothing, virtually every community in the country is having the same problems.

My heart is for young people - I've been working hard to promote good, clean family entertainment - then some of my young friends turn around and make really bad mistakes that are front page news. Oh well, I stand by my friends and hope they don't make more mistakes. Cleaning up TVs and movies is one aspect of reaching society that I'm involved in. WAY-FM is another. There are many other ways of turning things around, involving people of God called to many different ministries. The burden is really on churches to have creative youth programs, on parents to be involved in their kid's lives, community and school leaders to provide healthy environments and activities. A certain number of kids will got bad no matter what, but apathy on the part of adults, and preaching to already saved kids won't accomplish anything.

My opinion is - for those called to radio ministry - the absolute FIRST priority is to program to kids. It shouldn't be just an afterthought after "safer" formats are already on the air. The first Christian station on the air in a new community - and / or the best signal should be for kids. If you don't let the church of tomorrow know that you care today, there may not be a church tomorrow.
