For those that said Sirius doesn't listen...

YOU ASKED, WE LISTENED — BACKSPIN AND THE STROBE RETURN TO SIRIUS
By very popular demand, channels dedicated to old-school hip-hop and classic disco will be returning to SIRIUS: Backspin and The Strobe will be back on SIRIUS on January 15. The Strobe will bring listeners back to the days of Studio 54, playing the biggest dance hits of the 1970s and 1980s, while Backspin will feature the best of old school rap and hip-hop and will feature shows hosted by hip-hop legends including Afrika Bambaataa and Monie Love.

Well, we kinda raised a bit of "heat" regarding "The Strobe" since they did take BOTH Sirius' and XM's classic dance offerings both off at the same time.

Needless to say, we are glad that "The Strobe" is back for the fans of classic dance.

And for that, my dear Mr. Tony Santiago, you and everyone in the Coalition should be CELEBRATING!! :)

Andrea
(between you and me, now if Sirius were to re-hire Bobby Jay for its SoulTown 53 channel...but like i always say, radio over the last 18 months has been VERY interesting, so just keep on listening... :))

Yes but they wont be the same,THEY WILL BE PLAYING MOSTLY MAINSTREAM GARBAGE (As mel forces 'mainstream' on all his streams)

Apparently the must of read my post on the 60's on 6...my suggestion was done in a day or two. Now if they can bring Marty with the Party or Matt the Cat's Harlem Show back.........Then "I'm a Believer". Then they do read our post. LOL.

" Then they do read our post."

You'd be wasting your time thinking Sirius reads posts here. They respond to emails and letters. That is what brought about the Strobe changes. So if you have a complaint or want a change, voice it at Sirius.

And don't forget Backspin!! I'm excited to get the old school hip hop back!! First Backspin, now Bubba the Love Sponge?? Yeah, I think I'm gonna renew for yet, another year!

Bring the Groove from XM over to the Sirius side... no late 70s and 80s R&B classics on Sirius (no, Soul Town nor Heart & Soul play this era).

dude, you on something? ;) 'cos SoulTown DOES play 70s/80s R&B classics - TRUST ME on it!! :)

You will not hear Cameo, SOS Band, Roger & Zapp, Con Funk Shun, Gap Band, and most of the other 80s R&B hits on Sirius. Occasionally Soul Town will throw in a couple of later 70s, I already have talked to the PD of Soul Town and he has been told to NOT play late 70s or 80s songs, as they dont go with the feel of Soul Town, as it has to appease the older Soul Street listeners that came over from XM. Once in awhile a song might still be heard that breaks this rule or hasnt yet been removed from the playlist/library - but over all 95% of what you hear on Soul Town is NOT from the late 70s or 80s. My complaint is, I dont want to have to listen for a couple hours to maybe hear a song from the late 70s or 80s on Soul Town, this music of over a decade's worth deserves its own channel on Sirius as it does on XM ( The Groove), just add The Groove to Sirius and it will be fixed, Oh, and I am on my chair......or is it soapbox? :D

AZ Joe is so right in that sirius does not play any r&b from the mid 70's thru the late 80's...I have called and e-mailed sirius & understand that the groove thus far will not be added....the strobe could have been replaced by the groove but that couldn't have or wouldn't have happened....since many of us are waiting for the return of the strobe is the groove actually threatened for extinction since it is actually & originally an XM only product?....could the reintroduction of the strobe prevent the groove from ever coming to Sirius?

I'm attempting to talk to them. We'll see if they "listen"...

Like I've said on this board and others in the past about different things - "NEVER say NEVER..."
