For what it's worth...thanks!

I had posted the following post on the Ohio board and someone there advised me to post it here because there is a greater number of Canton posters that come to the Cleveland board. I just wanted all of you to know you've got a great state with great people.

"This is kind of NOT a radio post, but since I'm in radio and most of you are or have thought about being in radio, please indulge me. I currently live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I recently had the opportunity to "reconnect" with my brother after 12 years of being pissed at each other. What did we do? Since we were both Redskin fans, we roadtripped to Canton to the NFL Hall of Fame festivities last weekend. Don't worry, I have no hateration towards the Browns or Bengals, it's just that it was obvious that Canton and surrounding areas were not prepared for the influx of Skins fans to the area. I have to say, tho...on such an important weekend(on multiple levels), the entire population COULD NOT have been nicer, friendlier, more helpful and accomodating, patient and hospitable if Ghandi himself had been governor(I know, a stretch). Let me say that you have a beautiful state, a rich heritage, great radio (and radio that gets involved in the community, to boot) and truly wonderful, kind people who know how to befriend, help out-of-towners and throw a kickass party. Couldn't have asked for a better time. Thanks for the hospitality. Just know you've got friends in North Carolina now, if that matters to you, and if any of you find yourself coming to the Outer Banks for vacation sometime, let me know and I'll make sure I do my best to return the favor your listenership bestowed upon my brother and I. Thanks again.

(and please don't hate me...we tried to take Ocho Cinco off of your hands)"

well, if the entire population was nice, friendly, helpful and accomodating they could not have been from Canton, they must have been visitors also. All the friendly Canton people have moved to somewhere much nicer [probably Bagdhad] and the only ones left would be more likely to pick your pocket and stab you in the back instead of giving you a pat on it. Canton was voted by Forbes as one of the top "dying" cities in America.

Well, if you want to take a positive post and put a negative spin on it, that's cool. I'm well aware of the Forbes survey. Maybe that's a contributing factor to the graciousness that was displayed. Fact is, whoever calls Canton home that was staffing any and all of the HOF events and everyone employed in the Canton area in the service industry biz that we came into contact with were exceedingly helpful, patient and nice. I was speaking of their overall hospitality apropos of nothing whatsoever...not of their hospitality in the face of the economic downturn's influence on the rust belt's cities nor your insinuation of their desperation to gleen a buck because of it. Just sayin'...nice town, nice people, nice time.

Ok, and I was just saying that if you asked most of the people that you came in contact with what city they lived in, I bet the majority would not say Canton. But anyways, glad you had fun.

Agreed:
I've lived in Canton proudly for the last 30 years or more..Glad you enjoyed yourself Ssummers..And thanks for the shout..

Wiw...back around 1990 Canton was one of the most progressing, clean citys in the country! Must be becoming another Akron! :(
