For what it's worth....

880 or 101.1?

Remember, "WCBS" is only the AM. "WCBS-FM" is the FM station. There is no "WCBS" on (corrected) FM.

Given the locations and the way the apparent "regular" reception was noted, that has to be AM.

Indeed, one muggy June 2010 evening in Savannah, GA, yours truly listened to the Yanks and Phillies loud and clear on WCBS 880 while driving back to my hotel from Grayson Stadium after catching a Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets affil) vs. Rome Braves (ATL affil) MiLB game.

WCBS has come in for me quite well in central/north Florida and above at night.

As a matter of fact, WCBS 'Newsradio 88' audio was on its own cable channel on Disney property in the 90's

How did they get the WCBS audio? I have to imagine this may have been before internet streaming was public and WCBs isn't up on the satellite?

That I am not sure...I'd assume dedicated phone lines given the time period. Sound was definitely not studio quality...sounded like some sort of low bandwidth option. Image on the cable channel had a static silhouette of Manhattan with Mickey ears on the sun in the background with the text 'You're listening to WCBS Newsradio88 New York City, New York'.

They also had the local NOAA station on another channel with a radar scan.

Who knows when they got rid of the cable channel, but it was on all Disney World cable systems from at least 1989 until 2000 or so. When I returned in 2009, it was definitely not there anymore...by that point, WCBS was streaming and chances were good you could access it either on your laptop or that newfangled smartphone if you needed your news fix.
