For WSAI fans-Are We Going to Wail?-King Ron Britain

Glad someone noticed. I posted it along with other songs and audio with Cincinnati connections. Look for a WSAI Bud Stagg aircheck and a WKRC Rich King aircheck among the 50 songs/sounds I posted on youtube under my youtube user name of rickjcr0715

Thanks to both of you.

I first started listening to Ron back in Indy when I was in high school, and Ron was on WSAI. Followed his career right up til he retired. One of the best.

Rich King. He used his great voice so effectively. His delivery & tone could make you laugh. Hated when he left for a warmer clime. Wish he was still with us.

The 70's are dim, but I do recall I used to frequent the very bar where the "Two of Clubs" worked before their 15 minutes in the sun.

Good memories.

I heard from somewhere that Ron Britain being at 'SAI. I remember hm much better in 1968 at WCFL in the evenings....he made me laugh with his comedic on-air schticks including "Rick King" singing the weather:

TOOOO-NIGHT low near 40 with a change of rain
(guitar strum)
TOOOO-MORROW high 65 with more of the same
(guitar strum)

OH WHY WHY WHY DOES IT HAVE TO RAIN ALL THE TIME?...GOOD NIGHT RON!!
(SLAM!)

Ron Britian was the first DJ I ever saw...it was in the early 1960's & he was at a drive-in restaurant on the south side of North Bend Road (not far from McEvoy Park) in Finneytown doing a sock hop. Being in awe at that event may well be what drew me to a 44 year & counting career in radio.

I had a similar experience on a much smaller scale. Prior to that, I remember driving my father crazy because I had 1360 WSAI blasting on my Six Transistor.

Funny how small moments sometimes become that which charts the course of your life.

My dad was a wonderful man...he loved listening to WCNW 1560 for Country music, but when I was in the car, he let me have free run of the radio. He always drove Buick's and the car radio 5 car radio buttons spelled out B U I C K with WKRC on B WLW on U WCPO on I WSAI on C and WCKY on K. When I wanted to listen to WSAI, I'd simply say "Can I See You Press C", which he did every time. He even drove me up on top of Iroquois Park hill in Louisville to see if we could hear WSAI there at night (we could, but it wasn't really listenable). Great memories of pre-teen years. He's been gone for 26 years but those memories live on.

Bob,

Was the restaurant a Parkmoor? That drive-in chain advertised heavily on 'SAI at the time. I can still hear Ron Britain talking about their French-fried Idaho potatoes. Funny how stuff like that sticks in your mind after all these years. Seems like I recall Ron ending his shows with something like "my tulu babies, chico buddy-buddies, and duckie friends".
