Foreign You Tube Ads?

This is the first time I've run into this. I got an ad on You Tube today for Home 24, a German home decor chain: https://www.home24.de/

To my knowledge I've never received a foreign ad of any type on You Tube before. Part of this may be because of my working for Kirkland's now, and I work most of the time from home and look at the ads at times, so I'm getting more ads for those types of stores, but it's odd that I'm getting a foreign ad of any type on You Tube.

Has anyone else run into this? Thanks!

You Tube just updated a lot of their terms and policies last week, including notices about putting ads on user's videos. I don't know if that may have something to do with it.
Lately, I've noticed that on Google, after getting a few hits on a search, I start getting tons of false hits from strange sites that show ".it" domains (Italy?). They have everything that was in my search, but show an address like "joeschineserestaurantandcarrepair.it".
They sometimes show text in cryllic.
The times I have accidentally clicked, they open to some "Congratulations...You've won a phone" nonsense/scam.
Probably looking for you to give them credit info.

I get ads ones from Philippines and Mexico on youtube but then again it's probably because of the demographics of my area is a factor why I am getting ads from out of country. But then in the next ad I get a Local ad on YouTube from Sacramento or San Francisco due to the fact that I happen to be on the border of two TV markets.

For my work and interests, I get many ads (and emails, too) from places in Latin America. Some have no logic, but are likely the product of one list being shared with another web-based promoter.

For a while, many of my YouTube song plays would give me ads for La Favorita, a large supermarket chain in Ecuador and a number of other Ecuadorian products and retailers. I visit the newspaper sites there often, so that explains that. And although I have never worked in Brazil, I get lots of ads and email from Brazilian retailers, insurance companies, condo sellers and the like. Where I get the most is from Argentina, with adds popping up on social media and anyplace where Google has a relationship... new cars, vacation rentals, retail, investments, home wine delivery, shows, and nearly everything else. Of course, having worked in Buenos Aires for many years got me on all kinds of lists.

I parallel this to giving money to a mail-solicited charity campaign. They all seem to sell their lists to other similar charities and fund raisers, and you can't stop the junk mail as they keep selling the lists. I find that there are parallels in online solicitations, pop-ups, banners and the like.

I got ads in Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese ads too on YouTube when I was in the Clark, Philippines area to visit family. But its the district I visited at the time.

I just recently got another one for the Toyota Yaris Cross, a model that isn't sold in the US. It was short enough that I couldn't catch what language it was in but the people looked Middle Eastern or Indian. This was during a car related video but I don't understand how I ended up getting this.

Are you using a VPN which may lead Youtube to believe you are located in another country besides the USA?

I spend quite a bit of time on Youtube and have never experienced a foreign ad. Actually I don't see ads at all.

No VPN, and this was on my Roku. This just came out of nowhere.

I get ads on You Tube from local businesses at times, but other times it will be from other areas in the US, like car dealers or political ads that are nowhere near me. but the German and Middle Eastern ads were the ones that I definitely didn
t expect.

And here's another one: I got an ad for Morrison's, a British supermarket chain. I think this came from some of the food and restaurant related videos I watch at times. Once again it was on my Roku and with no VPN.

i get ads from California and oregon because of my ISP. I'm in Alaska, but i beleive they must have some kind of earth station for exede satellite internet in oregon because i see this stuff regularly.

I watch baseball from the Caribbean winter leagues on YouTube occasionally. Apparently that's enough for YouTube's algorithms to feed me the Spanish-language ads produced for American advertisers even on English-language videos. The problem is I speak and understand English and baseball, but not Spanish!

I've said before that I know just enough Spanish to order Mexican food.
