Forever's Intent to Purchase Johnstown Stations Faces Scrutiny

After checking some FCC resources it appears that Forever's effort to take over the entire Johnstown market has run into a roadblock. (See application to "buy" 1210 Associates Johnstown stations for "$3 million") Donald Ult(erior?) was quoted in the Johnstown paper that he expected this deal to be completed by the end of December. Yeah, well, based on what I have read, not so fast there Don.

Many believe that this was the first step, second was doing the same in State College.

Does anyone believe for even a moment that these deals are arms length?

It is heart warming to see that someone is taking action!

It takes money to mount these challenges. That's money most radio people don't get much for their efforts.

What information do you have regarding this transaction? Who is protesting the sale? I wondered how Forever could possibly get away with this since they would own every FM in the market. The ownership limits are pretty clear on this.
 
The FCC website shows Petitions to Deny, filed on 12/5/07, by Vernal Enterprises, Inc., and Sherlock Broadcasting Inc. and Sounds Good Inc.
 
Good for all of them!!!! This Forever/Keymarket mess has stunk to high heavens for years and its only because the FCC isn't the slighest bit interested in doing its job that they have been allowed to grow in the outrageous manner they have.
 
Yes, and all you have to do is look at the Assignment of License application with the FCC to see how Forever manipulates market data to make it appear that they can own all these stations in the Johnstown market. I'm sorry, but 96.1 out of Pittsburgh is not a Johnstown market station. Neither is WKHB in Irwin or a bunch of others.
