Forget Chief Met - KPHO Needs a Chief Engineer!

How much time does it take to get the digital signal right? Must be more than I thought.

KPHO has been having "technical difficulties" with its digital signal for several weeks now and especially since the analog cutover. Last night (Monday), again, there was continuous audio breakup and video pixilation/freezing. I continuously checked my signal and confirmed it was 100% and none of the other stations appeared to be having problems. Finally, KPHO showed a banner admitting it was having issues. Turned it off at 9 and the signal was still problematic.

Looks like KPHO engineers resolved the issues. This note was posted on KPHO's main page:

NOTE: TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES RESOLVED
CBS 5 engineers have resolved the issues with our station's digital signal. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we thank you for your patience.

I wonder how many converter boxes hit the walls before KPHO aired the "technical difficulties" banner?

That happened at 11pm once last week.

They aired a networked test pattern and then KPHO barged in with "Technical Difficulties" on black.
