Forget David Paul

I have heard on this board that the corporate stations need to go local concerning morning shows on the fm dial. A local player from the past who might have had marginal success needs to be pulled out of the drawer, dusted off, and given a morning show. I have heard all kinds of names. David Paul's name continually comes up. The problem with this is that it won't work. Christopher Rude's name comes up. Let's bring him to 96 rock I hear. Nobody listens to Rude. His numbers prove that. If David Paul was as good as a very few of you think he is, he would be on a station. We have the opportunity, now that the RG's are finally gone to bring in real talent. How about Mancow? How about Opie and Anthony? Monsters, out of Orlando. We have paid a price with local talent. With local talent we get boredom. The RG's demonstrated that very well. With a proven national talent, such as our own home grown Boortz, Hannity in the mix to, numbers and advertising dollars will happen, and happen big time. They are number one in our market and many markets all over the country. Forget pulling a David Paul or anyone like him out of a drawer. It does not work.

Mancow sucks, his show is boring and his sense of self-importance gets old. A goatee, dye-job mouthpiece.
Monsters are boring radio. Hackneyed, same old, same old.
Hannity has nothing to say that you couldn't get from Fox News, Rush, and he's blessed with zero sense of humor or ability to debate an issue without partisan rhetoric. FUN!

How many complaints would you lodge against O&A?

I'd love to hear David Paul back on if he could get the right meds. I'd rather hear him then Lex and Terry~ but they would be ok.

WSB brought in Krok, who literally puts me to sleep. It's like he's trying way to hard. Royal Marshall was a good local talent, but Cox won't give him a chance.

I'd rather see a 'dusted off, out of the drawer' local talker, then a 'fresh from another market, just passing through' guy, or some lame 'outrageous New York or LA brand' syndicated schlepp. But that's why I got XM. If I want to catch up on O & A's schtick or the Monster's sorry morning antics, I can get them there. Lex and Terry's the best fit for this market, IMHO.

Neil Boortz, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingram, Stern, and of course Rush Limbaugh are tops in their field and all sydicated and all have received great ratings. I like local preferred to piped in but I understand the business side of profitable radio. Syndication brings in the money. If it were your station you would do the same. Local is becoming a thing of the past. Why bring in a has-been that may not be able to survive the daily grind when you could have a major league player? Sad but true.

didn't david walk off the air mid-show last time?? think that was forgotten??

I actually emailed David a few years back after I saw his email addr on a WSB history website. I don't think he has any plans on coming back.

then why does he always come up here??

Simply because he has a following of folks here that enjoyed his humor. Clearly, he had an opportunity on WGST and screwed it up. Looks like his time has passed regardless of what a few folks want.
