Formal Introduction for a Newcomer

Just wanted to say this is my first post and I appreciate all the info (news and gossip) available here. From what I gather, this is a diverse group with a passion for the craft.

The valley was my home and I worked in the business locally (Central CA) during high school and college. Now, the challenge will be to figure out who everyone is ;D.

Welcome to Radio-Info semaj112! My name is madmansam, but you can just call me Sam. Was in the business years ago. Still have a few friends in the business. Was born in Manteca, CA. Moved around from Manteca to Modesto to Merced and to Stockton. Left California several years ago to move to Kalispell, Montana to work at my (Now Former) Father In Law's Lumberyard. Got divorced last year and moved back to California, specifically to Stockton. Was working Part Time at Duraflame. Unemployed Right Now. Hopefully for not too long. Again Welcome Aboard!!!!

I second Sam's emotion with a hearty welcome to you, semaj112 ...yet take particular note of the
disclaimer at the bottom of the page... :D

Like Sam, I was in the business, and still am...I'm just "on the beach" until something worthwhile
strikes. Til that time arrives, I'm a Medical Courier/Secretary in the North SF Bay Area...

I'm a Vallejo, Calif., native (home of Sly And The Family Stone, Johnny Otis, Con Funk Shun
and rapper E-40, a.o.), and got my radio start in 1980 after moving to the Stockton area.
Afterward, I worked in a coupla small markets for Program Directors that had worked in "The Big Time"
(most notably Mikel Hunter Herrington, ex KOME P.D.), and spent nearly 5 years at KHYL, Sacramento.

My on-air experiences over the last 28 years have been pleasant, for the most part, yet there have
been many technical, creative and other changes in the biz that make radio completely different
even from the mid-1990s, when automation was still done mostly on Beta, VCR or Audio tape...
Computers have replaced taped automation since, as they've been 'perfected' for on-air radio usage...

You are absolutely correct when you say this is a diverse group with a passion for the craft!
My mother, for one, will tell you that, musical- and radio-wise, I was born 30 years too late... ;D

Again, welcome aboard, semaj112 !
