Format change at WAUC Wauchula?

I heard classic country music. Probably the first English language programming on 1310 in 20 years.

This link may explain it:

If I were them, I'd look at an application to tweak night power, to take advantage of WDOD in Chattanooga TN (and its protection requirements) going dark. Perhaps they could send a little more juice into Bowling Green at night.

Anyone down south know what format 1440 WWCL, Lehigh Acres is? I was told third hand it recently dropped the Spanish Christian feed, but I can't receive it up in Clearwater to see what format they may be now.

Still Spanish. The only Spanish-English change recently was WAFC 590 in Clewiston, which is now True Oldies. Unfortunately, Cuba beats 'em over the head down here in Naples.

Re the WDOD situation....

Wouldn't this be like the Canadian situations, where even though an AM went off the air, they still get the protection, in case somebody wants to start up another AM there in Chatt?

Thanks for the status on 1440, HadYourPhil.

BTW at least last Sunday morning, WAUC was back to Mexi-Spanish.

I hadn't noticed 590's flip though I can sometimes pull pieces of them through the mighty Radio Musical Nacional.
