Format Change for KOCD?

To this day, I would give anything for playlists for those shows. In particular, they played a song by a band I think was british and it had some lyric about looking down at the street below, and possibly jumping out the window.. male vocal.

Sounds alot like "The World I Know" by Collective Soul. Not a British band, tho.

I think KTNT's rock format would probably qualify nowadays as AAA; I wish I had some airchecks of it, cause I certainly listened to it quite a bit. For some reason, one song I remember them playing alot that sticks with me today is Michael Penn's "No Myth". How long did they do that stripe of format? Probably no longer than 18 months...

Does this radio station exist physically? Are its studios anywhere in the state of Oklahoma?

Good question...I thought the studios were in Tulsa at Cityplex, but no one I know at Cityplex is aware of them being there.

The studios are in Simanole I believe.

Is that anywhere near Seminole? ;)

If that's where they are...that's about the only thing there.

I think it's interesting that they're closer to OKC (and even catered to OKC in their Smooth Jazz days) but now cater more to the Tulsa market (they're even the official station for Broken Arrow High School football). I guess since Tulsa is currently without a Soft AC, they think they fill the void.

That and the signal actually works much better in more of the populated parts of Tulsa. There's terrain reasons for this. I believe when the station was originally built, RF engineering studies were done, but the terrain wasn't taken into account as much as it should have been.

The stick is outside of Okfuskee, the "studio" is, indeed, in Seminole, but the jocks voicetrack their shows from home studios and then download thier tracks to an ftp site where a computer program apparantly drops the track into its appropreate time slot.

Interestingly enough though, the casual listener probably doesn't even realize there's no real humans sitting in a studio. In fact, people on here thinking there is a studio in Tulsa tells me that the folks doing the programming on that thing must be pretty darn good at smoke-and-mirrors. It's just a shame the signal is to far away...

Well.... It looks like 103.7 is off the air. The trades have it going to EMF to sing Jesus music. Will this negitively affect the Stevens Jesus-station's ratings?

Doubtful! KXOJ has a stronghold that KOCD's signal doesn't have a chance of competing with. The Stephens family has done it right.

So I'm guessing with EMF taking over, 103.7 will go K-Love? This is good, only because I don't think there's a K-Love affiliate in Tulsa. Then again, with various frequencies running a Contemporary Christian format in town (6 by my count, including translators and LPFM's), this might be a bit of an overload.

Yeah. I hate to see other established stations in the market bothered by this bunch. Hopefully the established will hold their ground on ratings.
