Format change in Greenville

Low power station at 101.5 changed call letter and flipped formats. Looks like it might have happened back on October 31st from the website. (See how much I've listened?)

I had tuned in this morning as I was just scanning the dial on my way to work. I heard:
Wings - Jet
ELO - Last Train to London
America - Ventura Highway.

Definitely not your typical "oldies" tunes - dipping further back to those lesser played tunes.

They were urban, calling themselves "The Beat" (WBWT-LP) but are now "Oldies 101.5." Website is here https://www.oldies1015.com
New calls are WZWK-LP

The Wings and America tunes were pretty standard on oldies/classic hits stations in the '90s and '00s. Not sure why that ELO non-hit is being played, though. They don't stream, so I can't listen, but I just visited the website and the first two songs played were "Life in the Fast Lane" and "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is." Not exactly "oh wow" oldies. What else have you heard that strikes you as unusually deep?

Unfortunately, not much that can be done about that right now. WZWK will be doing an experiment soon broadcasting in mono to see if there are any real signal improvements and possibly moving the transmitter sometime in the future. A power upgrade is proposed for LPFM in numerous recent filings at the FCC, so who knows what the future brings.

"Ventura Highway" is played on America's Best Music. I think "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" also is played there.

I haven't heard "Last Train to London" in years but that really brings back memories of college.

Not the same worn out tested songs over and over.

If a song is tested and it is "worn out" (what is called "developed dislike" or "burn"), it won't be played. The objective of testing is, quite simply, to find the songs that people want to hear and to be able to identify the ones they don't like any more.

Any chance of moving to Paris Mountain?
