Format change in Kingston,Ont

At 6pm august 19 2010 104.3 CFFX (Lite Rock 104.3) has become 104.3 CKWS-FM (The greatest hits of all time) the RDS still says (Lite 104.3) at 9pm new web site http://www.ckwsfm.com/
to kick off the new format A FREE Concert in Springer Market Square Friday Sept 3rd featuring Honeymoon Suite and tributes to ABBA and The Bee Gees starting at 7pm" They seem to be playing a lot of Classic Rock so I wonder if there will be change coming to sister station 96.3 CFMK (FM96)
starting Monday a new DJ lineup on 104.3 CKWS.
P.S. They are streaming from the new web site :D

FM 96 went from Country to variety hits to rock in such a short time...it could be they will shift FM 96 to have more of a modern feel, but that's strictly a guess. (based on the idea of having the younger crowd grow up with one station, then switch to the other when they get older)
Who really knows? ???

 HOLY S***!!!! They just played the LONG version of UB40's Red Red wine "I wanna ole on 2u" and ALL!!!!
I expected that they'd leave out the rap to better fit the format!
No complaints from me, but to hear CCR right after does feel a little odd.
Oh well.

We will see if its a smart move. I can't see FM96 playing newer music with 98.9 CKLC the drive and 105.7 CIKR K-rock. Maybe a deeper Classic rock format or switch to a CHR top 40 since 98.3 CFLY
seems to want to stick with a Hot A/C format and be a CHUM-FM clone and Since becoming hot A/C
they bumped K-rock from the #1. I don't think they will make it hotter and we seem to have every other mainstream format but CHR top 40 .

Kingston still has a soft A/C 88.7 CKYM MY-FM serving Napanee Bellville Kingston
they even have Kingston Frontenacs OHL Hockey.

For A/C stations covering Kingston, theres WTOJ out of Watertown, NY and 100kw CJMJ out of Ottawa. Not sure how well they cover Kingston.

CJMJ doesn't hit Kingston unless it's under tropo conditions.

88.7 CKYM MY-FM is a lot like magic 100 and it covers Kingston very will and has advertisements from Kingston. magic 100 is weak in Kingston. and 103.1 WTOJ is has a ok signal in Kingston. I have also noticed that 98.3 CFLY has started throwing softer songs on to the play list. Today at
10:23am Life Is A Highway Tom - Cochrane 10:46am We Belong - Pat Benatar 11:00am Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis 11:22am Ironic - Alanis Morissette . If 98.3 CFLY reverts back to A/C they will loose the #1 place for sure

Wait...um...didn't Magic 100 change or tweak their format recently to be a little less soft anyway?

I wonder if this will hurt WLYK at all. Its been owned and operated as a Canadian station for the last few years playing an oldies format. It also gets decent ratings in the Watertown, NY market which it is technically part of even though its operated as a Kingston station. I wonder if we'll see CKWS show up in the Watertown ratings, CIKR gets decent ratings there.
