Format Changes Galore

Fort Wayne is in store for a big shake-up tomorrow with Adams taking control and spinning off stations, but quite a few changes have taken place the past month around the state...or are about to. Here's what I've read about or heard myself...

Anderson/ Muncie: 96.7 WMQX is now new country "Blake-FM," which breaks up the classic rock simulcast with 93.5 WMXQ "Max."

South Bend: WAOR 95.7 will soon drop ESPN Radio for Catholic programming.

Evansville: WJLT 105.3 will drop classic hits for ESPN Radio. This will displace WYFX 106.7.

Lafayette area: WIBN 98.1 retains their oldies format, but drops The True Oldies Channel for WW1's Good Time Oldies.

WFRW 88.9 tests with an alternate feed of Christian AC WFRN. The station has gone silent again, but put out a great signal through the area when it was on the air.

Terre Haute: Alternative is dropped from 95.9 in favor of Classic country WDKE "Duke-FM."

98.5 drops news/talk for AC as WBOW. WIBQ moves to 1300/1440 then from 1300 to 1230 a couple weeks later. 1300 shuts down and the license is turned in.

Richmond: 2 translators will soon be moving to new tower sites. A new format more than likely will be going on Brewer's 95.3, which has been testing with a feed of WQLK. The other will be a simulcast of WKBV (ESPN Radio) on 100.9, which is currently simulcasting WFMG on 101.1 across the state line in New Paris, OH.

Plus, the Cumulus and Westwood One radio network merger may make things a little interesting in some of the smaller markets.
