Now with the sale of WLVQ/WHOK/WAZU complete, and stations moving into town...any expect format changes after the end of the holiday seasons? If so what stations and to what?

I don't know Wilks past enough to hazard a guess on whether they would change formats. I was told by a radio exec way back in the day that format changes were expensive. That certainly doesn't fit the M.O. of "buy, chop and sell" Wilks. Though if they can change formats to better match what they have in other markets so they can set up nothing more than a VT'ed station in Columbus it might be worth it to them.

I expect more format changes with the move-ins/new stations than existing stations. I think the Brew is here to stay for awhile. Everywhere you look there is a Brew billboard. I can't imagine spending all that money to hype a station that is slated for a change. They stuck with Fox to the bitter end.

I don't know how much longer Progressive 1230 will hold on. Maybe they copy WSAI in Cincy and change to a "Source" format.

Other than that maybe Columbus Jazz becomes one signal and Saga does something new with the other?

I would love to see a MOVIN format here in Columbus or something somewhat equivilant.

Either The Brew or WLZT will flip. If Columbus managers get to decide, they will mistakingly keep The Brew. They've probably budgeted for that new signal from the north to launch a format. I'm sure they had it all set up. My guess is that one or the other will flip to whatever they planned for the outside station. It should be The Brew to switch. Is the morning show really pulling ones?

So what's your deal then? Do you not like the format or is there another reason that you're bitter?

I think his point is that Movin' isn't a winner anywhere outside Seattle, at least as of now, and you can't expect other stations to jump on a format that isn't working just because, "I'd like to see that format here." While it may be too soon to tell how well Movin' will do in the long term, there's a reason a poor rimshot in Syracuse is the only station to pick the format up since the Los Angeles and San Francisco ratings came out.

That's the whole idea behind a "consultant". What works in one part of the country MUST work here. That logic is shined up for money hungry owners/GMs, and either force-fed or dolled up for dim-witted program directors. Later, when it doesn't work, they blame the air talent.

That's "radio programming in the 21st centruy" 101. Class dismissed.

You can make the same argument about the "Jack" format.

I truly believe that format WILL work here. The only problem is that nobody here has the balls to give it a shot.

I don't know, to me it sounds like most of you guys don't like the format because you probably can't relate to the music and since you wouldn't have a clue how to program it correctly, you would rather shoot the whole idea down.

There is some kind of prejudice here.

97.1 sounds a lot like Jack on the weekends. I like it.

No, it's not. You have it completely backwards.

No, it's not. You clearly have no experience of significance in the real world and have chosen to believe the ridiculous crap you read on the internet rather than asking someone and finding out the truth for yourself.

For whatever reason, this kind of stupidity and ignorance comes up every time any kind of dance format is discussed.

LZT is still running promos for its regular format to remind us of what we'll have the, ahem, pleasure of hearing after Christmas. Hopefully they'll actually flip to something else instead. (Please, ANYTHING else!) But that's just wishful thinking. I'm expecting the same old same old, but with a different PD.
