Format Flips Scheduled for 8/1/05

Any flips scheduled? If a station were planning to change formats, this would be a great time to start fresh on a Monday morning in a new month, before the fall book. We'll soon find out if any occur.

On the Nevada board there is a rumor of Alternative KXTE/Las Vegas (X-Treme Radio) changing on August 1. This has been the long time Howard Stern affiliate in Las Vegas. They are also known as the first hard alternative station, they ended up having (some would say negative) influence on the alternative format nationally ,pushing it further towards active rock.

We will find out soon enough if this rumor is true or false. Interestingly their website has a poll question asking if change is good or bad.

Oldies WOGT Chattanooga will get a head start this Friday as they are expected to flip to country.
______________

Well here in Denver, it may not be flips. Were waiting on 2 move in stations that have been testing their signals (for a while now) to launch permanent formats. KBRU 101.5 has been running a automated classic hits format for the last month and that's not expected to be the true format but only one knows. Recently, KSIR 107.1 has returned to the air in the last week has been running liners saying they are conducting test operations and playing a mix blend of soft rock & R&B hits. It's just about time that these 2 new stations to Denver launch permanent formats.

The two stations share a new 2000' transmitter site in Byers and a booster site just south of downtown Denver & were recently sold to Nogales Investors Fund, operating under the name Denver Radio Company.
______________

Thanks for the info Dawn. It's good to have you back. A few weeks ago I was wondering "what ever happened to Dawn H, she hasn't posted in several months". You must have felt my energy lol.

That would be a shame. KXTE is an awesome hard rockin' alternative station.

They're going to try and go up against the mighty WUSY?

I was listening to US100 down in Atlanta last time I was there (amazed it got that far south).

I personally hope they stick with alternative.

Another possibility in Vegas on 8/1 is FM standards station KJUL. They are adding John Tesh and the word on the street is they are going AC.

After their Top 6 12+ finish in the Spring book, let's hope they stick with their current format.

US 101 used to blast in like a local over here North of Huntsville, until a translator popped up on 100.7
______________

Good news! KXTE is staying alternative. The change is the addition of a personality oriented afternoon show.

Speculation ended today when First Broadcasting blew up Jack-clone "Bob 92.1" to move the all-80s "Flash 103.9" to that frequency (they just closed last week on the sale of 103.9, which now simulcasts Salem's "Fish") in Sacramento.
