In Des Moines, a radio company should try a rhythmic AC format. This format would take listeners away from KISS and Star. Maybe one of the rimshot frequencies like 101.1, 98.3 or 98.7 could try it. In the case of 98.7, show up in the Des Moines ratings. In reality, I know it's not going to happen, but it would be great to see a station try something new and fresh.
In the Quad Cities, Cumulus should flip 1170 to Spanish and Clear Channel should flip 1230 to Urban AC. Or better yet, Cumulus should try spanish or Urban AC on 104.9 or 93.5. The Quad Cities, in my opinion, is one of the most underserved, arbitron rated radio markets in Iowa and Illinois. I don't have a problem with the stations in the QC, but it's frustrating to see the blandness and lack of diversity in programming that happens when two companies own nearly all of the commercial radio stations. Thank goodness for webcasting!
