Too bad BGSU never did anything with WBGU-FM to become a full market signal on 88.1, back when it could have. Would have made for a nice NPR/AAA music option, as a public radio alternative to mostly-classical on WGTE. You could use a second NPR all-talk station into Toledo as well, since WUOM starts to flutter a bit south of the stateline. The shared time station on 88.3 is too low power to ever make a real dent, I think, as a jazz or alternative option(s).
Adult standards is missing. And it's not just for the over 70 crowd. There are syndication services with a mix of old standards and new recordings by jazz and standards artists that would be a nice change from the same old harder-edged stuff being passed off as adult contemporary today.
You've got too many conservative religious stations, too, in my opinion, and now the multiple translators of stations from Idaho and California are cluttering up the signals you used to get loud and clear in Toledo from the big guys in Detroit and Windsor.
I'd still like to see someone else get WJYM AM 730, fix the signal pattern so it doesn't null out most of West Toledo, and provide some nice general interest programming. Progressive talk, anyone? Toledo is not a conservative outpost, despite what some on this board and in the corporate media would like.
I'd also love to hear some old WOHO airchecks. I bet I'm not alone. Suprised no one has taken on those call letters since they were removed from AM 1470.
