Format question

What is the AAA station in Cincinnati these days???

Try WNKU 89.7 for a more adult and acoustic leaning AAA format - but their signal from Highland Heights KY is directionalized and doesn't make it north of the close-in suburbs. Still, they are not to be dismissed, just because they're non-commercial. Some good people there.

Note: WNKU took care of that issue by installing and FM repeater station on 94.5 that covers most of northeast Hamilton county and southeast Butler.

I'm surprised they picked a translator frequency in Warren County on 94.5. Doesn't it get chewed up by fringe signal from the Dayton station, WDKF, on 94.5?

Southeast Butler Co. ;D

The WNKU translator covers most of northern Hamilton County extremely well, which was their primary objective.

Main reason is that WDKF in Dayton (94.5) has always been known as a crappy signal south of Montgomery County line.

I like WNKU in general, but they lean heavy to the country side of the scale. Wanna see how fast my finger can hit a preset button? See me in the car when NKU throws a bluegrass "song" on the air. :-D

If you're looking for a AAA station that leans more to the rock side, 88.9 WMWX fills that side. Signal issues abound here too, cuz we really only cover the west side of the I-275 loop, but we're exploring avenues to "get around" the loop.

NKU and MWX combined seem to fill a need. I listen to both, depending on my mood....and what I can pick up in the car.

Disclosure: I'm an on-air dude at WMWX so I am definitely biased.

Understand and respect your bias toward WMWX - it's a great station and I enjoy the format & rock variety. 88.9 comes in fairly good here in Sharonville/Blue Ash. However, good to know you guys are "exploring" options to improve your service area on the NE side of Hamilton County.
