Format Switches this Summer? Who's up next...

Well, we've already had the first flip of the summer, with WAKX switching from jazz to a simulcast of WRNI. So who is next in Providence?

My vote is for 99.7 WSKO-FM. Can that station be making ANY money at this point? I hear WEEI-FM is killing them in the ratings... The question is what do they flip the frequency to?

Just my two cents.

I'd have to go with an assessment in an earlier post and think Traditional Country a la WHIM/WJJF. Can't rule out a straight Oldies format either...

I really think a classic rock format would be more in the offing as the signals from Boston for the classic stations don't really penetrate further south than Cranston and the Bee plays too much funk/dance to really be considered classic rock and HJY doesn't play enough variety of the classic rock stuff.....WRX, when it was run right, had killer numbers.....and there is more to pull from at this point as the 80's would now be considered classic rock as well as the late 60's and 70's (hell, even the early 90's would as well)

Not enough of a market for straight classic country even if Radiojay gets a diary.
I really wouldn't mind an oldies format with concentration on the 60s & 70s but I'm not sure that'll happen. Someone will always play the demographics card.
Classic rock demos are getting up there too, but done right with the right staff & PD I think it could work...especially since it would give Citadel a male targeted station. And let's not forget the weekend feature Amazing Women Who Run With The Wolves

Rock or Country format.

If they go Rock they can keep O & A.
