Former 106.7 Translator trying to come back alive.

In looking at apps.. Sandyworld who owned a translator at 106.7 FM for years prior to Clear Channel moving 106.9 into Columbus requiring the 106.7 translator to shut down had appeared to filed an app to relocate to 96.7 from the same tower it was on (the current WCGX tower)

W294AH App

Interesting to note that this app is requesting to rebroadcast WTOH -- I am guessing an 'HD-2' signal perhaps?

When looking through the Columbus LPFM apps. yesterday, I thought "Sandyworld" sounded familiar. Now we know.

It will be interesting how this one shakes out -- He was displaced I think in 2009.. and now is just applying for an alternate frequency in the mist of the great LPFM Rush.. my understanding is the FCC is flavoring new LPFM licenses right now over translators but we will see how this all shakes out. (I am sure the CRS folks won't be pleased if he gets 96.7).

My guess is if he is approved could he sell this translator to Salem? Since it proposes to rebroadcast WTOH (I am guessing WRFD via an HD-2) it would make a perfect translator to give WRFD a 24/7 signal in parts of Columbus. [Which would fall in line with the FCC's plans to make AM radio alive again].

Btw looking further at his app for 96.7 he wants a site in Downtown Columbus at 99watts and based on the height it (on one of the skyscrapers down town) appears he would put a decent signal over Columbus.

This will never fly. The translator has been silent for 4 years... after one year, a silent station's license is automatically surrendered. If the FCC grants the channel change, all that need be done is to call their attention to the fact that W294AH was silent for more than a year and the license will be be revoked. Same thing that happened to Wilks with the 102.3/94.1 translator.
