Wide 107 was also a lot easier to pick up (vs. FOX) back in the day...there was really nothing on the ATL dial north of V-103 (104.1 was still in LaGrange, 104.7 was still in Athens, 105.7 was still in Canton on 105.5 (although IIRC the old AJC radio dial log at the time reported WCHK 105.5 as the highest-frequency FM in ATL, you were lucky to pick it up south or east of Cobb) , 106.1 was still in Toccoa, 105.3 didn't exist, and I don't think either of the Radio One 107.x stations existed either (107.9 might have on the southside).
97 Fox, OTOH, was next to impossible to pick up without a good differentiating tuner (such as an analog car radio or digital tuner). A cheaper set with AFC would smear 96 Rock over Fox every time unless you had a good antenna or made mods to it.
