Once again the recent changes in Atlanta Radio had me wondered about the location of former djs. So it is time for another round of where are they now?

BC & Bubba are doing overnights on a carrier-current AM in Mobile, AL.

what about:

Craig Ashwood from 94Q (1980's)
Rebecca Stephens (hosted the original Love Songs on B98.5 from 1985-2003?)
Mel Cargle on Z-93 (late 70's-mid 80's nights and w/e on WZGC)

and all the original WPCH-FM (Peach FM 95...all music..all the time) guys:
Bob Meyers (met him in person in 1988)
Ted Vigodsky (hope I didn't mess his name up)
Jim Clark (this guy was awesome, did nights on WPCH, and also did a show in 88/89 called Peachtree Night Sounds...real jazz...very good program...spent hours on the phone with this jock talking about the broadcast biz back in the late 80's. Never got to meet him. Very cool guy)
Vance Dillard (the PD at PCH IIRC until Clear Channel...also did afternoon drive for a while and fill-ins)

As far as I know, Craig Ashwood still works for Cox, producing/running the Websites for Cox stations. I don't think still he does the Outback radio spots, which he voiced for years. I heard him on a local radio commercial not long ago.

I think Rebecca Stevens teaches at a religious school. Her husband posts on this board.

Vance Dillard, last I heard, was with Salem as either National PD or National MD of Salem's contemporary Christian stations.

Not sure whether he's still there, but Ted Vigodsky spent several years working at WABE. I also found several references to him online as a freelance producer.

You know, since this thread pops up about every three months or so, somebody should create a wikipedia entry. Next time, when the question of "where are they now" pops up, we just have to post the link. Plus, it'll be a quick refresher for people like me with a feeble memory can reference it instead of resurrecting a dead horse. On the other hand, at the current rate of Atlanta radio, this "where are they now" thing is as fresh a story as the drought!

Who? Me?

Rebecca is an assistant teacher of 2-year-olds during the week, an art teacher on Sunday and mommy to four and a half-year-old Rachel full-time. She still dreams about being on the air just about every night. And most of those dreams aren't nightmares.

I remember moving to Atlanta and hearing Rebecca's voice one night as I was driving thru the city. I was in love. That was the most beautiful voice I had ever heard on the radio.

Rebecca's "Love Songs" was the last holdout of real, genuine ATLANTA A/C radio...and unlike the syndicated "Delilah" which any male loses testosterone listening to the brain dead whining 17 year olds who call in asking to play some washout while pining suicide- "Love Songs" had so much wider appeal and originality- no wonder the corporate scum who "killed the radio star" in the ATL would replace it with this voice tracked garbage.

I grew up listening to this show, even sent out a couple of tracks to some gals I dated...and talking to Rebecca live was worth more than anything, she is a real person in touch with reality unlike most of what occupies the dial these days. Why B98.5 dropped her and that show is beyond me...but then I'm not some corporate insultant.

1st of all: I started this topic because Wikipedia doesnot have info on every dj.
2nd of all: Since I lived here all my life,I have listen to numerous djs come & go. With the many changes commerical radio has gone thru last 5,10,15 years; I like to know who is still in & who is out.

Few more people for Where are they now?

Melissa on 96Rock,early 1980s. She had one of those sexy,sultry voices.
Steve Barnes from The Morning X. I deleted scene from Prison Break doesnot count.
Jeff Dunham from Z-93 before it flipped to Dave FM.
Dick & Justice-afternoons on 96Rock from late 2002 to Summer 2004

Regarding former WPCH-95 FM DeeJays:

Last heard Vance Dillard reportedly was working at a Knoxville Christian radio station;

Jim Clark is living large in beauteous N. W. Atlanta and is in the courier industry;

Bob Myers(correct spelling) after doing Los Angeles radio for ten years is back in metro Atlanta and doing voice work when it comes his way;

Ted Vigodsky left medical/science reporting at WABE-FM 90.1 several months ago to avoid conflicts of interest while doing audio archival work for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a venue he covered weekly for nearly thirty years. He's still working on activating an audio web site dedicated to sound gleaned from over 45 years in the business.

Chuck McDowell and Allen Pierce passed away several years ago.

And the beat(BULL) goes on.

I just saw Greg Clarkson(former overnighter at 96 Rock)today. That sucka' is a movie start now!(Really!)
You may be hearing Greg back somewhere???sometime???in the future.....

Hey, I didn't mean to strike a chord by saying mentioning Wikipedia, but I do think there should be a page dedicated to this subject because it comes up every so often and, instead of reheating the old stew, a quick reference to this page should do the trick. Hey, here's some homework for the GRHOF: Isn't it the HOF's mission to pay homage to Georgia's radio personalities, past and present? It'll take a TON of memory, but why not bios on Georgia personalities? Well, I guess they are to an extent (the dead ones, but you've gotta start somewhere!). The one on Buddy Guy was really good.

As they are inducted, there will be bios of Legacy (deceased) as well as Career Achievement (living) people. I have no idea who Buddy Guy is, but there ARE bios on our web site. When members vote on the 08 inductees next spring, they will be able to go to the website for information (bios) on the candidates.If you'd like to help with projects, join and email us. It's an all volunteer organization.

Melissa, on 96 in the 80's, came from WRAS. She's been in NYC since the late 80's I think. In fact, a lot of 96's jock came from 88. Willard, Bob Bailey, Melissa, Southside, Jim Morrison for a while I think, and a few more I can't recall...

Sorry, I meant Buddy Carr. I got his name and the blues singer's name mixed up. I appreciate you guys and the work you do. It gives much due recognition to people that have shaped the industry that forgets them too quickly. I just suggest that there be a category for current personalities that haven't really made a "career achievement", but are an impact on the community in that they are missed when they're not on the air.
