Former Atlanta Radio DJS-Where are they now?

Dixie, in my 30+ years of being in the radio business I've seen many great jocks who were fired for reasons that had nothing to do with their talent. Making a living in this business is getting harder every day, so just because they're not on the air doesn't mean they aren't good. I know Scott and Sandy - they are great people and fun to listen to on the air.

I don't know Scott personally, but I've met and spoken at length with Sandy. She is without a doubt a first-class person in every aspect.

Didn't Atlanta used to have The Greaseman way back when? I was down in Jacksonville over the weekend and found out that he's on WFYV, 104.5 in the afternoons

Yes, from 1993 until about 1996, on Z-93.

Plus what ever happened to his co-host Monte?

Wasn't she the 4th mic on 99x for about a week when Sean, Leslie & Jenners debuted? Then landed another gig in the Pacific NW, as I recall ...

Monte has some family issues and relocated. She is on myspace.com.

Regarding Rebecca Stevens - the story I heard was that she worked for Kicks long ago - a Saturday overnight/Sunday morning shift - Neal McGinley wouldn't put her on during the day - didn't think she
was good enough! What a laugh!

Rebecca Stevens started the whole "love songs" thing, didn't she?
"Love Songs" on WSB-FM pre-dated Rebecca. Jack McKay was doing Love Songs when I first went to work there. Then Karen Gershon. Rebecca came later. She came to WSB from Z93. Don't know if she ever worked at Kicks.

LF

Rebecca worked weekend overnights briefly when Kicks first went on the air but for Ted Stecker, not McGinley, as an earlier post indicated.

So I'm guessing Rebecca Stevens changed her delivery pretty significantly when she went from Z93 to B98.5's Love Songs. When I came to Atlanta, she was on B98.5, and I can't imagine that sound on a CHR station.

They probably sounds as diverse as the Cox Twins, Jordan Graye and Kate McCarthy. Could you have two more polar opposite deliveries????

Little known Rebecca Stevens fact. She was actually hired for her first job in Atlanta after her car broke down here while she was on her way to Virginia Beach for a job interview there. That worked out well for her!

And yet you fail to divulge the most important aspect of this: did she get her car fixed?

;)

Usually around 10:30 or 11pm..Rebecca would come in to "check in" and pal around with her (i think..then ) boyfriend now her husband..I did the Friday and Saturday night "All Request Dance Party" on B98.5 hired by Dr. Phil LoCasio, and later Tom Paleveda. What a fun time..and what theatre of the mind radio! Rebecca was an absolutly terriffic person, and an awesome talent..and I am happy to hear she is doing something with kids..she loves 'em. THAT was fun-to-do radio and a superb group of air talent..Jordan, and Kelly McCOy, and Dale, and Bill Duncan (RIP)..they were all good to have known. Made some solid friends to this day with guys who were producers for that crazy show Rahul Bali, Ted Clark, and Benji Kurtz..fun times
