Thank you, Pabst for your "blue ribbon" post. This is sad all the way around and Sam's jokes are cheap shots that are NOT funny and, if anything at all, mean spirited. Some good people have been hurt by this financially, personally and professionally. No one is defending what Brett is alledged to have done but it doesn't call for this relentless and humorless attack on Sam's part or anyone else's part.
Agreed. Brett's involvement with Stewart's should have nothing to do with a radio discussion other than that they are both businesses and some of us are better off in retail while others run great stations. Some of the sharpest broadcasters I know came to the business from the outside and what contributed to their success was not having preconceived ideas about programming but rather seeing it with fresh eyes. Others understood bottom line management while others were great "people persons."
My hope is that Atlantic will emerge from this and survive the lean winter months. If you work for Atlantic, my thoughts are with you. Be professional and do your best everyday. if it fails, you can walk away saying you did all you could. If things get better you have the pride of being part of the recovery by your good work ethic. If you are a former employee who left under less than happy circumstances, yes it sucks, but move on. The anger will only eat you alive.
We all make mistakes..some of which be be pretty colossal. Let's keep these discussions professional. High school is over. How do we, on this board, represent radio? Do we honor it or embarass it?
